It is made from Zinc alloy so it should not rust but will tarnish. .

how do you take of the protective sticker of the square in the middle? suppose to be black but has white & red sticker looking thing instead.

It comes off very easily. I just peeled off from a corner and the black part is exposed. I guess it just protects it in shipping. I was actually surprised to see it on there seems unnecessary. Hope this helps

Ring od is 0.97 inch (call it "an inch") id is 0.2 inch? the id is mighty small, less that 1/4 inch? that makes no sense

The .2 inch is an error. The id of mine is 13/16" (using a small ruler so it may be 1/16 +/-). Very good key chain. I'm very happy with it.
