We live in a very humid area with a lot of gnats, and this does an excellent job of trapping them. We placed ours in an area that does not have competing light sources. The sticky thing is gross because it gets covered with dead bugs, but at least they are no longer flying around the house! Highly recommend.

I know how helpful pictures are for believability, so I’ll attach one! Don’t judge me, I had no idea what these were for the first couples of weeks. So yes they overran my house for a bit. But that is no longer! We are now free from the clutches of these nasty little 💩’s. I recently moved to Florida, and never in my life had I experienced so many (what I thought were gnats - I’m still unsure what the hell they actually are 😂). For the life of me I couldn’t figure out where the swarms of these pesky little things were coming from. I am originally from up north, where the only things that resemble them that we get are fruit flies. I couldn’t figure out why they were everywhere when none of my fruit was rotten or even remotely bad. Until I did some googling and found out these little demons are called Drain Flies. They live and breed in your drain, lay eggs and come out in SWARMS. I tried every remedy to kill them off. I cleaned my drains, I poured all kinds of chemicals down there. I googled every which way to kill their eggs, catch them. Tried the whole apple cider vinegar, water and soap trick. Where the apple cider vinegar is supposed to attract them, and the surface tension of the soap is supposed to get them stuck and they sink into the water below….noooope! Nothing worked. I’d still see them flying all over the place in my peripheral vision, and to top it off I now had a nasty little vinegar cup hidden in my corner smelling like dooky. I, like every other rational person, ran to Amazon for a solution. And I found LOTS of them. My first go to was going to be that light and fan thing, where the light attracts them and the fan supposedly sucks them in to their demise. I really didn’t care which one I purchased, as long as it worked. I saw the reviews and pictures of this one and figured I’d give it a go, and if this one didn’t work, I’d try the other one I mentioned. Day 1, the first few hours, it caught absolutely nothing. And I thought “greaaat. This thing isn’t going to catch anything and I’m gong to have to deal with this pests for another few days while I wait on another order” Day 2. I woke up, not expecting to find anything, and lo and behold, there were 10-15 flies on it. My prayers had been answered! Day 3. Not going to lie, I forgot I had it plugged in Day 4. I checked again, and this is what I found. The picture attached. Absolutely gross 🤢. Don’t ask, I have no idea how all these nasty little creatures lived in my sink without my knowledge. I must just be that blissfully unaware. I thought I only had a few…clearly I was wrong I’m on like Day 10 now. I waited awhile because I wanted to make sure it continued to work before posting this review. I haven’t seen another fly / gnat besides in the trap, since Day 4, nearly a week ago. Not one. However, the trap is still lit up, and still as sticky as it was on day 1. There is a faint blue glow, it’s a pretty pleasant. It’s just like a night light. It makes 0 noise whatsoever. It’s SO easy to remove and replace the sticky pad. You pull the stick piece up out of the part that attaches into the wall, and slide a new one in. So simple, yet so effective. If you’ve had these nasty little critters flying around your home for far too long now, try it. You won’t regret it. If it doesn’t work in the first spot you put it, move it around. These things supposedly come out of the drains, yet for some reason it catches far more in my bedroom outside the bathroom. So find what works for you. Also, it turns sideways if need be. So if you have a sideways plug, you can still plug it in and swivel it so it’s face up! I hope this review helps some of you choose this, and rid your life of these nasty little buggers!!

I purchased this just over a month ago. I wanted to use this before giving it a review. I am highly impressed with the results. This was very easy to install. As you can see in the picture, it not only catches multiple insects. But seems to attract them with the light it produces. And the lighting isn’t all that bad at night. And it’s made quite durable. Best if all, there’s absolutely NO Noise! I recommend this product to anyone reading this. I WILL be buying another one!!!

I've had fungus gnats in my office. I thought I had the problem solved, and then a big wave of them just erupted. I bought this to try to get them under control. I've been using plain sticky traps in my potted plants and near the fish tank (where they are attracted to the water filter). Those traps would capture a few gnats, maybe two dozen in a day. I plugged in the Safer Home trap and, because I like tracking these things, I started checking it throughout the day and counting trapped gnats. 1) I consistently caught 20 gnats per hour in the trap, and 153 at the end of the day. This was about 10-20x more effective than my cheap sticky traps. 2) The position mattered a great deal. Putting it low, in the corner, in the dark caught the most gnats. Placing it high in bright light, even near a plant, was only about 15% as effective. I think even in a well-lighted office, placing it in a dark area where the light is comparatively bright is the important factor. 3) The trap is sticky, but the gnat needs to really make contact in order to adhere. So sometimes a gnat will just barely alight on the surface and then fly off. Those lost gnats are not a great concern to me, because they will eventually come back and get stuck. 4) This trap is totally silent. No zap, no hum, no buzz. The only distraction is that is does emit a UV light that is visible in dark rooms. 5) It has no moving parts, and I had no trouble changing the sticky pad. The design is very simple. It does require a wall socket, but it could be repositioned with an extension cord (taking care to keep the sticky trap from resting against a surface).

These units just work! They are a easy to install, make no sound, last so far for months and are their size allows them to be installed anyway. They have a rotating socket which offers a versatile mount to fie most electrical sockets. Most importantly, they CATCH everything! Mosquitos, flies, gnats and tiny bugs I had never seen until captured by this system. No smell. This is a great value!

EDIT: after a month of keeping it plugged in, I decided to check it out. I was shocked when at least 20 flies were dead on the back. So, I wanted to revise my initial review. I still don’t recommend this as a quick, immediate solution. But to have plugged in over the course of a month or longer term it clearly works. This product is not worth it at all. I live in Texas and it’s summertime and we had a bit of a fruit fly problem so I ordered this based on reviews. I live in a small space, so an item like this should work pretty efficiently. I followed the instructions and after 48 hrs it only caught 1 fly. A friend recommended leaving a cup of red wine vinegar with a little dish soap in it and less than 12 hrs later the solution caught over 10 flies. I obviously can’t return the product since it is “used” but I can hopefully save someone else money. Pictures for proof.

My roommate left the door open for an extended period and left food in the kitchen sink drain while I was on vacation, so surprise, surprise-- we got flies. We also got ants, but that's a different story. Well, I plugged two of these in around the home, and they do work. They smell faintly of vinegar (I think?) and there is a low, purple light by the trap. The sticky part was easy to install, and I have yet to need to replace the trap after a few weeks... but that's also a bit of a problem. It did definitely catch some flies, but it is no panacea for your pest problems. I am still swatting at the small flies near the sink and around the apartment-- though there are considerably fewer of them. It does fit the outlet fine as well without blocking extra outlets, which is always nice.

We recently had a fly infestation - this thing is magic. So gross (I’ll save you the pic) but it ended up trapping 16 flies on one cartridge. Well worth the money!

Excelente producto me encantó, si cumple con mis expectativas compré 2 pero tuve que regalar uno, voy a pedir otro porque si hace su función el aparato. En cuando el empaque todo llegó muy bien.

It works, not as good as I had hoped but it is catching some of the fruit flies. Might be the location!
