Remember the position where the valve engages and open the valve ONLY to that position to fill.
Worked perfectly, the first time. Good value for money. You will need to find the exact position where the valve releases the coolant by first putting the can tap valve on the can, without any fitting hoses, and wait until the coolant releases for a second. Think of the position of the valve as hands on a clock, make a note of what position it has to be in to release coolant. Remember that exact position, then close the valve again to attach it to the vehicle. Always remember that exact position where the valve engages and open the valve ONLY to that position to fill. This is not an issue with the can tap valve, it is just the way these new self-sealing cans are configured.

It works as it should, but you kind of have to adjust the piercing valve a little bit. It works better when it's turned in halfway then when it's turned all the way out as you would expect

Beware warning this is not for self seal Freon cans
Beware this is not for self ceiling Freon cans I bought this tap thinking it would work with modern R134a cans, but it does not work properly with self-sealing cans. The product claims compatibility, but in reality it behaves like a puncture-style tap. With a self-sealing can, the valve is spring-loaded and needs to be held open consistently. This tap only partially engages the valve, so refrigerant flow is very inconsistent. I experienced weak or intermittent flow unless I found a very specific โsweet spotโ with the adjustment knob. If turned too far in or too far out, the flow would stop completely. This makes charging extremely frustrating and unreliable. If you are using newer self-sealing cans (which is what most stores sell now), I strongly recommend using a proper self-sealing compatible hose or a trigger-style recharge hose instead. This tool may work fine for older puncture-style cans, but for modern cans it caused a lot of confusion and wasted time.

Meh... I wish these were made differently
It seems like every single version of the self-sealing can tap is a valve that cannot be shut off. Sure, the can itself shuts off when the rod is retracted, but the valve does not have an OFF or closed position. This makes it virtually impossible to seal off the yellow line while changing cans. Without being able to close this valve, you will lose gas or introduce air when swapping to a new can. I had to buy a separate AC ball valve in order simply be able to swap out cans during charging. Alternatively, if you have a piercing style can and tap valve, this would not be an issue since that style of tap has a "closed" position.

Works like it should. Can't tighten the bottle too much, when you do, the O ring swells up and blocks the refrigerant from coming out.
