Could I use this item to practice setting or my receives?

Thank you for your question! The device is best suited for serving as you have control over the ball: you throw it before hitting. The ball will probably not return consistently at the same place and angle to really practice receiving or setting effectively. If you would practice setting by catching the ball every time and throwing it up before you set you could have the same effect as with serving: you control where the ball is before hitting and after setting it the elastic will guide the ball back.
