TL;DR: An excellent investment in a quality kitchen appliance that will last the rest of your life. After cracking the acrylic and other plastic bits of no fewer than three expensive salad spinners, and being frustrated by their small capacity, I did my research and found this durable, high-capacity spinner. Though not a plastics expert, it seems to be made of something a little more flexible than the long-lasting ABS plastic they use to make car parts and tool boxes. Unless it was frozen stiff, I have little doubt that you could drop this off a six-story building and it would survive just fine. The gear mechanism is very robust and all the parts are easy to wash--just spray it in to get stray small bits of lettuce and let it dry. This is a somewhat large unit, and can wash about three very large heads of lettuce at a time. Just make sure you have space to store it. We use it all the time, but especially in the late spring and early summer when all our garden lettuce comes in and we're eating salad morning noon and night. If you're running a restaurant and want to do this just once a day, you may want to look at the larger versions by the same company, but whether you're a home chef like myself or a restauranteur, this will do an excellent job for probably decades. The quest is over--so glad I got this spinner. Buy this one and never look back.

After breaking several different kinds of your average run of the mill salad spinners I decided to try this commercial type. This will not fit in your cupboards. Maybe it will fit under your sink or in your pantry. It is the size of a 3 gallon bucket and twice as thick. The gears are some kind of nylon and replaceable. This does not have a clutch so when you take your hand off the handle it will keep spinning. You have to hold this down with force while you spin. Salad will not be perfectly balanced inside the spinning area so it will wobble when you wind it up. This is not for a lazy salad eater. This is for the strong, hungry, hard working type of person who doesn't mind a little struggle for their meal. That being said. This is the Best salad spinner I have ever seen and I love it. I doubt I will ever break this spinning salad. It might break if you throw it off the roof full of rocks. A++

Very happy with my purchase. I originally bought a 5 gallon one which almost the same price but was super huge. It was almost the size of my garbage can. This one is a good size. I can cut up several heads of lettuce wash in this container and spin all with out taking the lettuce out. It is very fast and smooth while turning the handle. My 5 and 3 year old enjoy helping spin lettuce for the family. It cleans up easily. I store in the garage on a shelf with a piece of paper towel in it the help with moister. It is a solid piece of machinery. I though it would need a handle but totally not necessary at all. It is very sturdy while spinning. 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾 I do wish it had a drain hole but it is not a deal breaker.

it's sturdy, it is easy to clean, holds lots of veggies to spin, however, it would be great if I can stabilize it while I spin because it's big and hard to hold with one arm and spin with the other. It wobbles all over the place while I'm spinning. Maybe easier for a man with longer/stronger arms. Overall, good product.

This salad spinner I had just did not hold enough. And it removed the wash water. This salad spinner had the capacity I like but does not remove the water as well.

This thing is amazing and I only regret I didn't purchase the 5 gallon unit! Yes you can fit 4 small heads of lettuce in it, but only two large ones. It has basically twice the capacity of the large OXO unit but in a container three times the size. I keep it in the basement, this is not a kitchen drawer item. I was hoping for a little more room to process a large harvest of cooking greens but it's still much larger than most consumer units and the handle-and-gear mechanism is great. I'm sure I'll be purchasing the larger one within a few years.

Good heavy duty salad spinner. For the average home chef, 2.5 gallon is plenty big enough.

As a flexitarian, who only eats meat about twice a month, I eat a lot of romaine lettuce. I typically wash and dry about eight heads of romaine at a time. The process for washing, drying and storing took a lot of time. This commercial-style salad spinner has saved me a lot of time. This item was expensive at $110.00 but I use it every week and it has saved me a lot of time. This was the best price that I was able to find for a commercial grade salad spinner with this capacity. It is a five gallon bucket, so it takes up a lot of space.
