(UPDATED 9-Aug-2018) High Setting Turns Air Flow Up To 11!! Even Low Setting Loud For A Bedroom, Seems Well Made
When it comes to moving air I'm very pleased with my new Hurricane box fan. It moves an impressive amount of air and I believe it meets the impressive 2,400 cubic feet per minute rate on high. Even on its lowest setting this fan moves a lot more air than my old fan set on high! And, I thought that one was pretty good. When it comes to Noise I'm not so much. That's the apparent tradeoff for moving a lot of air. The Hurricane on its lowest setting makes quite a bit more noise than my older fan on high. It's too noisy for me in a bedroom fan but that depends on how much noise you can tolerate. I think it's important to point out that the noise seems to come entirely from the fan blades through air. My old fan was almost silent for this kind of noise, but vibrated quite a bit. That noise carried through the walls and I could hear it running in other rooms. Not so with the well balanced Hurricane. It seems noisy but just in the room where it's running. The Hurricane was surprisingly smaller than the old metal frame one it replaces. Both are described as 20in fans but with the Hurricane it appears to refer to the outer box dimensions. On my older fan it refers to the blade diameter. The Hurricane is also very thin: about half the thickness of my old fan. That's a real plus when you are placing a fan on your window sill! The Hurricane's box is almost all plastic with some metal reinforcing. So are the sleekly curve blades. It sounds cheaply made to describe, but I was impressed with the quality of construction. It also does not seem to vibrate noticeably when it's running. I think it will last very well. Good engineering I think. In my application I am using it in a upstairs windows to pull air through the one room upstairs in my old New England cape style home. Essentially as an exhaust fan. I used some eye hooks and a bungee cord to hold it tightly in window. With the fan on low I can be in the middle of the room and feel the air flow distinctly. When it comes to moving air I'm very impressed. Noise level, not as much. In conclusion, this box fan moves more air than any other I looked at locally. On low it moves much more than my old fan on high! But it's noisy for a bedroom or living space. Even when on low. Construction is very good and I think it will last years if not decades. It's much more compact than other box fans I looked at. I I'm torn between 4 and 5 stars. No half stars on Amazon so I'm giving it 4 stars. It's an impressive box fan but even on its lowest setting it's is pretty noisy. UPDATE 9-Aug-2018: This fan has continued to exceed my expectations. It really moves a lot of air. I rarely want to use it above the low settings, but when I do it delivers moving air thought my attic bedroom and cooling it down from the day's heat (this is an attic room!). Yes, it is noisier than my previous fan. It took a little while but I'm used to it now and no longer concerns me, at least on low. Considering how much air this fan moves I have reconsidered the noise level and I'm not upgrading my Hurricane box fan to 5 stars. I'm even more pleased than when I wrote the original review and raising my ranking to 5 stars. It's an impressive fan.

Ludicrous airflow, ludicrous noise. I love it.
I bought this to use as a window fan. I’ve went through 2 actual window fans this year and I NEED. MORE. AIRFLOW. I have a gaming computer in my small bedroom, you can’t escape the laws of thermodynamics, it gets HOT after a while. So I got this HURRICANE floor fan, stuck it in my window, and got rolled pvc liner that goes underneath showers and tile to make it waterproof and create a seal. I cut a hole in the pvc slightly smaller than the fan and stretched it over, and created a flap so I can close it if it’s too warm outside. Let’s talk about the LUDICROUS airflow and LUDICROUS noise. It’s got 3 settings. It’s got a knob with three settings. 1 being the lowest airflow, 3 the highest. 1 lowest- I have not needed to use anything more than this to cool my room. Even on the lowest setting, it’s a hurricane. So much airflow, louder than most fans, but I can still hear well enough that I don’t hear it over my headphones. 2 medium- It’s like sticking your head in the back of a 747 engine. It’s loud as a jet engine. Once again, I don’t care I need LUDICROUS airflow. That’s why I bought this fan. 3 high- It’s creates a continuous blast wave of air, and like a high explosive bomb, it will knock light objects over on my table, invest in paper weights. It’s also loud as a blast wave. You’d have to talk uncomfortably loud to have a conversation in a small room to hear each other. Once again, I NEED LUDICROUS AIRFLOW, I. DON’T. CARE. IF. IT’S. LOUD. There are bladeless fans that are much quieter, but it’s impossible for them to move as much air as this Hurricane fan. It’s got huge blades, they moves a LUDICROUS amount of air, and yeah, it creates LUDICROUS noise on medium and high. I still don’t care. This is the best fan I have ever purchased. I just bought it, so I can’t say how long it will last. But the noise comes from the airflow only, it doesn’t vibrate or spin in an unintended funky way. So yeah, love this fan. 5 stars, would buy again as long as it lasts a decent amount of time.

Excellent Fan
I bought this last summer and it’s still running like a champ. The airflow is strong and works well for airing out the summer heat from my apartment at night. If you’re considering whether it’s worth the extra money over the Pelonis, it 100% is. I bought one the Pelonis box fans, lightly bumped into once, not even hard enough to knock it over and now it’s broken. It lasted just over a month, but not the Hurricane. This thing is sturdy and very durable. Update: The white fan I bought in 2024 is still working at 100%. But I did buy a black variation of the fan to use for an Corsi-Rosenthal box. When I first powered it on, there was a weird smell, kinda like burning plastic. I thought it might be an electrical short but nothing was hot. I’d read about some new cheaper box fans doing this for the first week or so running them, so I didn’t think nothing of it. The smell has gone away, but it took over a week to dissipate. Something to think about when deciding between a black or white fan. Anyways, if I had to buy one again, I’d probably go with the white fan, because I suspect the dye in the black plastic may be the culprit for the weird smell.

Fitting Name
This fan is everything that is advertised. The fan is extremely powerful and will move a ton of air on all three settings. The fan itself will make some noise but it is strictly from air movement and not from rattling or vibration. Great quality fan that comes ready to go directly out of the box. Highly recommend this fan to anyone that is wanting a high quality fan that will produce some air noise and will move a ton of air around the room.

I bought this for the wildfire smoke as I live in Alberta and it saved me and my asthma during April/May of 2023. I taped 4x MERV 13 Furnace Filters, 20x20x1, to this thing, and a piece of cardboard for the side I typically set it on to rest, and it worked wonders. This is known as a Corsi-Rosenthal box if you want to look it up. We actually bought a Mila, which is a smart home filter, and this at the same time. My room mate used the Mila and I used this box fan setup. It filtered more air, faster, and efficiently than the $500 smart fan filter setup. Routinely, we found their room smelled like smoke, and mine smelled fresh and smoke free. Another thing of note is this fan is on for at least 12 hours a day, 7 days a week, and it hasn't started squeaking, rattling, or vibrating in an undesirable way after 3 months. The Mila on the other hand has a squeaky fan already. Something of note is, even on the lowest setting (1 our of 3) it is very loud but also pushes a lot of air, on the highest setting (3 out of 3) do not expect to hear anything but the fan if you are anywhere near it. The only thing that will overcome the noise of the fan is a loud movie, ads on tv, or a fire alarm. However, for the amount of air it moves, I don't know how it could be any quieter than it is, this thing is a beast.

Es un buen ventilador, el empaque es muy bueno y sirve perfecto para lo que lo necesito, un filtro de aire artesanal, no hace mucho ruido.

El ventilador no es silencioso pero, tras meses de uso casi contínuo, sigue funcionando bien.

Really great fan. Quiet, and has 3 speeds and moves a lot of air. I use it for a home made air purifier, but this would be a great general purpose fan for everyday use.

Buen producto y funciona para hacer un purificador de aire con filtros Merv13
