Amazing for double cleansing
A million thanks to the Sephora team member who casually pointed me towards the INKEY list--the entire line has been blowing my mind! If you're looking for a nice, unfussy balm to take off your makeup before using another cleanser to wash your face (aka double cleansing), this is a fantastic option. I've tried all kinds of makeup removing balms from low to high price points, and the INKEY List Oat Cleansing Balm is my new favorite. You get plenty of it for the price, which is great since I don't believe most brands when they say a dime-sized amount will take off all your makeup in every circumstance. Even if a little does go a long way, I wear a full face of makeup every day and need at least a quarter's worth of any balm to get everything off to my liking. This bottle is going to last me a good while, and it will go even farther for people who prefer the less is more model. More importantly, the formula is awesome, one of those simple and to the point gems. It's both gentle and very effective, a win/win for super sensitive/oily/prone to some serious hormonal acne skin like mine. It's a little thicker than some of the other balms I've tried, but that's been a plus for me. It feels like it's really gripping the makeup on my face rather than just slip-sliding around the top layers of it. This balm also just FEELS clean, if that makes sense--it's not chemical-y at all, it doesn't have any added scents, but it also doesn't smell too strongly or too strangely without them. Most makeup removing balms out there don't sting my eyes, but plenty do get into my eyes and leave a bit of a blurring film. It's another win/win situation with this balm: it removes every bit of makeup off my eyes (no morning raccoon eyes!) but doesn't stick around once I wipe it clean. For clarity, I do use a makeup eraser to wipe the balm off, which I think is a game-changing step no matter what balm you use. After I'm done double cleansing, my skin never feels tight, dry or itchy in between the cleansing and moisturizing steps, and the gentle formula in this balm is a big part of that. I've seen a couple reviewers who say their skin felt greasy after using the balm, but for my part, I've never experienced that. That might be more of an issue if you want to use this as a standalone cleanser, but my skin just feels soft and makeup-free when I use it, even before I reach for the cleanser to complete my double cleanse. In all, I love this simple and effective balm, and I'll definitely be adding it to my subscribe and save list. For the price and the quality, it's won me over from reaching for any other brand I've tried before.

Love this Cleanser
I really like this cleansing balm. I have rosacea so I need to use gentle products on my skin and keep moisture in. This is super gentle and removes my make up well. And my skin doesn’t feel stripped after. I also love that it’s cruelty free and vegan. I wish they hadn’t added texture to it - not necessary for a gentle product. When I bought it in the past it didn’t have that. There appears to be a “new version” of this and I’m not sure what the difference is, but I love the one I have so I bought the old version (which is cheaper too). Only complaint is that it was poorly packaged by Amazon and the box was super crushed. But the product inside was fine and the tube was sealed which is very important.

Not the best, not the worst
This isn’t the best makeup remove I’ve ever used but it’s far from the worst. Overall I’d say it’s fairly good. Works on all makeup, doesn’t leave me face feeling gross. Cons are water resistant mascara requires some serious rubbing or at least two attempts to get it all off, it can separate (a very minor inconvenience, just shake it), and it leaves a slight fog even after washing my face so I have to cleanse again on my eyes to get rid of it. But for the price it’s the best one I’ve tried. You get a lot of product for not a lot of money.

Great double cleanse balm!
I'm newer to the INKEY brand and have only tried the Oat Cleansing balm but am super impressed! It definitely takes off makeup and SPF from the day and just leaves your skin feeling super calm. Since this is a cleansing balm you will want to do a second cleanse as it's very oily and find it leaves a layer on your skin, but that's easily washed off with a second cleanse and really how you want to use this. It does have some grainy texture that may be a little to much for some, but for me I love it and feels it gives a more thorough cleanse. Definitely will repurchase this product!

This is a makeup remover. NOT a cleanser.
I was using this product wrong and it left me very frustrated. It is not a cleanser, despite what the tube says. But it is fantastic as a makeup remover BEFORE you cleanse, if you follow these steps. 1. Start with dry skin (ignore what the bottle says). • Don’t wet your face first. This balm works by melting into oils and breaking down makeup or sunscreen when massaged on dry skin. 2. Use a quarter-sized amount and warm it between your fingers. • It’s thick—almost like Vaseline—so warming it helps you spread it more evenly. 3. Massage into dry skin for at least 60–90 seconds. • Focus on areas with heavy makeup (eyes, lips, forehead, smile lines). • Think of it like loosening a stain—friction helps break down long-wear products. 4. Emulsify by adding a small splash of water to your face. • It’ll turn slightly milky. This step helps it rinse off more cleanly and prevents the greasy feeling. 5. Rinse thoroughly with warm water OR… • Better yet: Remove with a warm, damp washcloth. This will physically lift off the makeup and balm. 6. Follow with your cleanser. • This balm should always be Step 1 in a double cleanse.

never write reviews
EDIT: I’ve decided to include pictures to emphasize the difference! Pictures of me in brown and blue are while I was using the product, and pictures of me and green are both literally only 5 - 7 days after I STOPPED using it. hope this helps. I highly advise against using this product if you struggle with atopic dermatitis/eczema, or just have sensitive skin in general. This product contains phenoxyethanol, which is a harsh chemical that can make your eczema worse! It’s normal for people like me with sensitive skin to have severe allergic reactions and suffer from skin irritation because of this chemical. I’m quite ignorant when it comes to ingredients and chemicals in products, but when I saw that this was an “oat cleanser” I figured it would work great to soothe eczema patches I would get on my face here and there, while removing makeup. However, when I noticed how terribly my eczema was triggered while I used this cleansing balm, I started doing a little research. At first, I cleaned up my diet and started taking Omega 3 and Vitamin D daily; face was still EXTREMELY dry, especially toward the end of the day. I’ve always been someone with an oily face at the end of the day, but it was suddenly dry like the Sahara Desert. After I read the ingredients and ceased use of this product immediately, I noticed a difference almost overnight. It’s been only five days since I stopped using this, and my skin looks COMPLETELY different. I’m drinking the same amount of water, but it looks so much more hydrated. It took me 2 months to realize this was damaging my skin. Please read this review and take it as a cautionary tale if you have sensitive skin and/or eczema! I never write reviews, but am hoping this deters just 1 person from buying this. We need to start reading the ingredients on the products we use. Phenoxyethanol is NOT a safe product to use for your skin care!

Inconsistent texture :(
I’ve used at least 5-6 bottles and I really want to love it because the oat is so great on my sensitive skin. It really cleared my adult acne and blackheads. HOWEVER the texture of the product itself is not consistent. About half of the bottles I got have been very gritty and is a physical exfoliant if I go to hard on my skin (in attempts to clean out my pores). I think it’s time for me to move on to a new cleanser

Does the job perfectly
At the beginning I didn't like this balm because it had a very thick consistency which did not melt on my skin which meant lots of skin tugging, HOWEVER, one fine day I read the back unintentionally and realized I was using it WRONG! Here I was ignorantly thinking I've used balms before so of course I knew how to use this one... You actually have to wet your face first, and then massage onto your face where it gliiides and removes everything makeup, sunscreen, dirt...etc., then emulsify, then wash, then proceed with second cleanser and so on, et voila! Beautiful product!
