Nice grip too! - No this case does not have a built in screen protector however it states such & this is due to the infinity screen feature. I love the purple color because it's not bright so it still looks nice to use at work. Very durable & protects like shown. My previous case allowed my phone to crack upon dropping it so I immediately purchased an Otterbox case until I can replace the screen or get a new phone. No further cracking even though I have dropped the phone a couple of times. Including on its face. I have also dropped the phone less do to the nice grip this case has. The only bad part about the infinity screen cases is they do not come above the screen on the sides because it would take away from the screen feature. The bumpers on the four corners of this case come up high enough in the front to protect the screen should it fall on its face. However the infinity screen is very fragile! I wish Samsung would make them more durable as I only had my phone for 7 months prior to cracking the screen from a sitting position. I have never cracked a screen or damaged a phone until this one. I will not be purchasing another with this type of screen. Who would of thought if you start making all glass phones they would crack easier hmmmm. I no more than said these phone companies should start making more durable phones & what do you know (while I'm not an Apple user) they came out with the iPhone 11 that you basically don't need a case for :) Review: Still the Best Smartphone Cases Available. - Exactly what I've come to expect from an Otterbox case. Tough, offers great protection, and doesn't interfere with the use of the phone's many features. It doesn't have a screen protector, but this is a glass faced phone (versus plastic often found on cheaper smartphones), so it doesn't need one in my opinion. The Defender case for my S6 had a screen protector built-in, and it really only served to trap dust in between the protector and the screen. There is a raised edge on the top and bottom of the front face of the case, which does a good job of keeping the screen from making contact when dropped onto a flat surface. These edges don't interfere with the use of the screen. The case also offers some protection to the rear camera, and also seems to help with finding the fingerprint reader. Samsung has gotten panned (rightfully so) for locating the fingerprint reader right next to the camera lens, making it difficult to not smudge your finger over the lens. With this case, the beveled edge provides a nice waypoint for your finger to follow down and onto the sensor without fouling the lens. Wireless charging, NFC, and MST payments are not affected by this case. The rubber doors for the USB-C and headphone jack are large enough that you would need to have an abnormally large plug for either before running into problems connecting. If you use the Samsung-provided cables, there's no issues. If you use the Anker cables, there's no issues. I have yet to run into any phone feature that is hobbled by this case. I was also able to make a small modification to this case to rid myself of Bixby. Yeah, I know there are apps that allow you to reassign the button. Or, you can get into the catch 22 of signing up for Bixby, just so you can disable it. Me? Well the outer rubber shell has fingers that reach through the inner plastic shell to transmit the button presses through the case. I just shaved off the finger that serviced the Bixby button and voila, no more inadvertent Bixby presses...ever. The only way the button can now be pressed is if I take the phone out of the case. If you're tough on your phone and want to give it the best chances of survival from your daily abuse, this is the case you want.

High quality case.
I absolutely love this case. I am still rocking my S8 in 2026 and this is by far the best case I have ever had for it. You have to remove the softer outer part of the casing first and then pop open the plastic part to fit around your phone. But easy installation. I used an X-acto blade to cut off the port flaps. Those I don't care for but no big deal there. Love the case!

Good quality, seems durable. UPDATED 2/20
We had been using the Lifeproof Fre cases for our phones, but after a couple of drops, although the phone was protected, the buttons stop working. The Lifeproof Fre is water resistant, whereas the Otterbox Defender is not. This is also the Screenless version, so there is no dust protector. Although the Lifeproof only provides dust/water protection for the screen as well. We use tempered glass screen protectors on the phones, which have always worked well for us. Putting the case on is a little clumsy, but once on, it fits well and looks good. The Defender comes with a holster, which is a nice option. One of the nice things about the Otterbox, as it is open over the camera, screen, and fingerprint camera, all those features are far more responsive. We will see how well it holds up to dropping, and if the buttons still work. UPDATE 2/20 The Otterbox case is still working well to protect the phone. We have both dropped our phones a couple of times without incident. If I have any complaint, it is again that the Otterbox has no screen protector. Although we have put on tempered glass screen protectors, due to the way the Defender case fits over the phone and along the edge of the screen, the glass is weakened. I am now on my third screen protector. Otterbox states they cannot make a screen cover due to the curved glass, but having used another case that worked well, I find that hard to believe.

Don't trust your $650 phone to a cheap case!
No screen protector included but none is needed with this phone. The OtterBox defender offers just the right amount of compromise needed to work well with this phone's curved edge screen, allowing full and easy use of the edge features while the beefed up ends help protect it from drops. It fits well and is fairly easy to remove though I don't know why anyone would other than to dry it out if it gets wet. It doesn't need to be water resistant because the phone is. I never liked screen protectors anyway. The case doesn't add too much girth and is very comfortable to hold, feels secure. Highly recommended. I don't use the holster but it works just like other OtterBox defender holsters, the belt clip rotates and can be used as a prop stand. The phone clips in face in for protection or face out for table top viewing of videos or hands free video calls or whatever. I found an iPhone in the middle of the road a few days ago. It had fallen out of the back of a truck going around a sharp curve on a busy city street, must have been shortly before I found it. I picked it up and was able to locate the owner and have him come get his phone back. Because he had put it in an Otterbox Defender case his phone was completely undamaged by his carelessness. I've been using them for years now on many different makes/models of phones. Worth every penny.

Phone run over by cars and still works!
I was being a very distracted puppy mom today and put my phone on top of my car while talking to my husband on my bluetooth headset. I drove away "with my phone with me" (unfortunately still on top of the car). I wasn't far from the house and didn't realize the phone was not IN the car until the headset lost connection when I turned onto cross street by the house. I dropped off puppy and went back to intersection and got good signal light timing to get out to intersection. I saw the case and ran to it but it had broken and the phone popped out. I spotted the phone which was thankfully face up and got it. The back is somewhat shattered (per photos) but everything still works. I know 1-2 turn light cycles went green before I was able to get to the phone. I was happily amazed by not surprised. My husband dropped his phone from his pocket after kayaking and we didn't find it at the edge of the water until 10 hours later. It is also still working - now about 5 months later. (Same case, different color) SWEAR by this case!!!!!

Lives up to its name, Yes wireless charging works fine, Don't get hung up on the screen protector.
Long time fan of OtterBox products, but very hesitant this time since the OtterBox really interfered with wireless charging on my previous S5 and S4 phones. There were conflicting reviews online as well, some saying it worked and some saying it didn't with the case. I took a chance and ordered this for my S8 and Note8. With the OEM wireless charging stations, it works pretty well. I have to lay the phone flat (cant use the charger in tilted mode), but that works for me and it's very reliable when positioned properly on the charging pad. This also works on my old Tylt charger, which didn't do well at all with the older S5 in an Otterbox Defender. So yes, wireless charging does work with this case on. And the case itself? You should know already since this is the legend that all other rugged cases are compared to, but it does its job great. Already had a few terrifying drops onto floors, paved parking lots, and one gravel driveway, but it did its job and the phone was unscathed. Don't get hung up on the lack of a screen protector; the bumpers at the top and bottom protect the screen pretty well. If I drop it on rough terrain one day I might change my mind, but so far it's been fine. Also it's been very easy to access the side / edge swipe menus with this case.

Good Product
I always buy the Defender Series. I've dropped mine many times and still no problems. With the new phone being water resistant, I am glad they have removed the plastic screen protector, it always trapped a dirt and water on the inside resulting in having to remove the cause to clean. I find after time if you remove the outside rubber or am fixing the rubber a lot then that stretches after time causing a not so clean look anymore but still works great. The Grey rubber case dose get dirty easily so if your a person that has dirty hands a lot, expect it to rob onto the case.

Incredibly good case for such a delicate looking phone
Incredibly good case for such a delicate looking phone . It'll make your phone bulkier but y'all get used to it.. The only thing is screen protection..ya need to get it separately. And I got it for a steal of a price.that is was shocked that it indeed was the original..really good seller.even otherwise if yare able to get it for the proper retail price it's worth the protection ya get One small grouse is that the part of the rubber case with the covering flap for earphone and charging port is a little flimsy.that part of the rubber becomes loose easily. The rubber over the cut out for the holster teeth is thin and can be slightlydamaged.but even then the case will not become loose or weak. These are just not picking.amd minor issues.

La mejor funda sin duda.
Tiene un diseño que amortigua los impactos laterales y en la parte superior e inferior un curveado que evita que la pantalla impacte directamente si cae en superficies planas. Un complemento ideal para mis manos de mantequilla.

VINYASA (ROSMARINE/PLUM HAZE)

Saved my phone from a drop down an elevator shaft!
I recently bought this case for my new S8 and was a bit concerned by some reviews. I choice it as I had an Otter Box Defender case for my S4 and it worked. I'm go glad I did, on the weekend my phone bounced off a box, on the floor and down the crack between the elevator and floor! It dropping one level onto a cement floor and who knows what else it hit on the fall. I had to wait 4 days for an elevator tech to come and get it but once found it was in perfect condition and still running. So happy as my phone is only 2 months old! Only con is the light colour is showing the dirt, I'd highly recommend these cases but I'd buy a darker colour.
