Barbie in a Mermaid Tale 2 [DVD]

This is one of my daughter’s favorite Barbie movies. I think we’ve watched it at least 100 times by now and over the years has not worn out its charm.

My granddaughter loved Barbie in a Mermaid Tale 2. It's a great movie for little girls, and enjoyable for big girls to watch with them! We purchased "Tale 2" before we watched the original, but will be going back to purchase the original one, soon. I only allow my granddaughter to get 1 new movie a week from Amazon Instant Videos, so she has to put her requests on a waiting list. We LOVE Amazon instant videos!

My girls and I are obsessed with Merliah Summers!! Love the story line that follows well with the first movie! Love the characters, and also the fact that the animation is nice and smooth and not like some of the other Barbie movies where the animation looks out of date our the babies look like stiff wax dolls! We especially love the music!!! Its addicting!!!

My daughter woke up before as I was sick. She decided to lay down with me and watch movies on my phone. I didn’t realize she was renting. Got a code on buying movies now. Lol the movie was actually cute. We loved it and watched it a few times. Couldn’t be mad. Wish we bought it though.

My pre-school son seen this in a Red Box at the grocery store and wanted to watch it, no doubt because he liked the bright colors. I rolled my eyes thinking how horrible it was going to be and rented it anyway. This is the first Barbie movie I've ever watched and I loved it! I didn't see the prequel to it, but you don't really miss out on any story line. It gives you a quick re-cap anyway, though. The story line was fun and original and I think the song in it is quite catchy. Because both of us loved it so much, I bought it along with the first one. The prices are nice and now I think I'm going to start a Barbie movie collection for my own guilty pleasure.

GrandMa loves it too. This is another excellent Barbie movie. However some voices were a bit squeaky. Oh for the old days where actors actually had elocution and voice projection......... forget the nose it is all from down in the chest. Not everything get better and that goes for the breed of American actresses.

My 7 year old daughter asked for a Mermaid Tale 1 & 2 and paid for it with her own pocket money. Not being a fan of Barbie myself, I had raised eyebrows about the whole genre, especially the effect of the 'Barbie Doll Syndrome' on an impressionable 7 year old. However, I was pleasantly surprised and the whole family (including 9 and 5 year old boys!) actually watched it together! It is a simple story with additional extras about a sucessful female surfer after the main feature. My children all enjoyed it, and despite the cheesy bits, so did us adults! Would definitely recommend it to anyone, including any non-Barbie fans!

Right off the top let me say that all Barbie movies are a huge hit and required viewing in our house. So we pre-ordered this one not knowing much about it. We've owned it for about a week now, and my 8 yr old has already watched it at least 5 times. As a disclaimer, it is March Break and she can't play outside all of the time so I'm sure this has something to do with it, but even with that 5 viewings in under 7 days is a record for us. For it's babysitting qualities alone I have to give it a great review. As for the story itself, this movie works well as a stand alone tale, but also continues with the characters introduced in Barbie in a Mermaid Tale 1. The story moves along at a brisk pace, and while there is that predictable "everyone wins" ending, isn't as sappy as some. It's not The Princess and The Pauper, which we consider the best Barbie movie ever, but it holds it's own in our home.
