I have been looking for magnets to use for magnet fishing both around the house and in lakes and rivers. The ones that I have bought previously were very powerful rare earth magnets, but they were quite small so the surface area able to attract a magnetic object was also quite small. I purchased this one knowing that it had a larger surface area on which to attract objects. I tested the magnet's strength on a tractor implement that has probably 3/8" inch plate steel, which has become my go to testing location for new magnets. While the magnet is quite strong, it seems as though it is more than 20 pounds weaker than a 170 pound magnet I have. This is all by feel, as I have not tested them with a scale. Either way, it is a very nice, and very strong magnet. Make sure you explain to anyone who you let hold it that if they get a body part between the magnet and metal, an injury will surely occur. I was confused by the black objects in the picture, I didn't know if they were the actual magnets that were attached to another piece of metal housing, but they are actually a magnet cover or buffer. They are plastic pieces with a little bit of metal in them just to protect both the magnet and the user. I thought it was a very nice touch to have those included. I look forward to using this magnet for fishing for dropped hardware around the farm, as well as in bodies of water. Thanks for reading.

Vraiment efficace, mais attention où vous la déposez une fois les protecteurs de plastique enlevés. Je l'ai déposée sur un rond de poêle à bois pour voir son efficacité, et j'ai eu de la grosse difficulté à la séparer dudit rond. La traction aurait résulté dans des sérieuses égratignures de la peinture, si le rond avait été peint. Excellent comme aimant et vraiment super pour ramasser tout le métal, clous, visses, etc, qui trainent autour d'une construction, à la fin des travaux.

This is one fine magnet but it could use more power. But, that doesn’t mean it is weak. I was able to transfer a broken box of 16d common nails that I could not reach to a different box by tying a rope to the eyebolt and swinging it to the broken box....did not take long and the money saved was more than the magnet! I’ll recommend this to friends!
