7 Bit Ratchet Screwdriver Set by Tarvol

Awesome first impression. Perfect size for throwing in my bag.
7 in 1 Ratcheting Screwdriver SetThis screwdriver is very comfortable to hold and the size is great, as it's not too small to work comfortably and not to big to carry around at all times. It's perfect for a child too, if you want yours to help you with little projects around the house and regular tools are too big and make their use clumsy (it's never too soon to teach a child proper tool use).Even though my first impression is that this screwdriver's great, I can't give it five stars. The few reviews that state that it's hard to remove the bits from the holder inside the cap don't even begin to describe how hard it is. I almost cut myself trying. One work-around for this is to pry the bit outwards and then wiggle it free, but that's still difficult.I ended up modifying the holder itself with a wire-cutter and pliers (see photos). The modification works perfectly and the bits are now very easy to remove.I'm even considering removing the structure that holds the bits entirely, as that would allow me to fit eight bits inside the handle, instead of just six. As it is now, the bits need to be inserted in the holder or the cap won't screw back on.While the screwdriver itself has a tiny magnet to hold the bits in place when they're in use, it's not strong enough to magnetize them. One option, if you want your bits to be magnetic is to magnetize them, which is easily done with a neodymium magnet (I only needed one bit to be magnetic, so this is what I did), or you can drop a 6mm (1/4") neodymium disk magnet (search amazon) inside the bit-holder and that should be strong enough to make whatever bit you're using magnetic (I did this with another screwdriver).

Bits are not magnetic, but still a good stubby screwdriver
I was looking for a stubby screwdriver with magnetic bits that would hold screws in place to make it easy to insert them in hard to get to places. When I first saw the description, it sounded as if this kit had the magnetic bits I was looking for. However, it turns out that the only part that is magnetic is the inner tip of the bit holder which allows it to hold the bits in place. The bits themselves in this kit are not magnetic. The kit itself seems to be of decent quality and the ratcheting action is light so screws don't have to be too tight in order for the ratchet to be used. If you need a decent quality stubby screwdriver with a light ratcheting action, this may fit the bill. They just need to clarify the description.Update: One disadvantage I have found while using this screwdriver is that the slots which hold the spare bits in the cap are so tight that it is very difficult to remove them with your bare hands. Doesn't help that the bits are small and closely spaced as to prevent getting a good grip on them. I always have to use a pair of pliers to remove the bits, which detracts from it's usefulness.

Excellent precise ratcheting action
This is a great tool, sturdy and the grip is well designed and sized to make it easy to manipulate the tool as you need. Yes the bits in the cap were too hard to remove; I say were because I took a small pair of cutting pliers and snipped off one ear of each bit slot. The bits are still held firmly in the cap, but now they are much easier to remove. The screwdriver has a built-in magnet that holds the bit in place as you use it. The precise ratcheting action is excellent; much better than similar tools costing 2 to 3 times as much. This tool was priced right and performed much better than I expected. I could not be happier with this purchase.

Not worth the headache
This is not a winner. It is not magnetic in the sense that it will not pick up a screw. The bits are impossible to remove from the storage cap and the storage cap won't screw on properly without about 20 tries. The only good thing is that it does have a nice smooth ratcheting mechanism. So, out of the seven bits, I can only use the one that was already in the handle. I can't get any of the others back out of the storage cap. The smooth ratcheting earns it the one star, otherwise I would toss it and forget it. This was an extremely poor choice for me and I do not recommend it.

Much better than Stanley's version
I bought this and the Stanley version of the exact same thing. I thought the differences would be of interest, This one costs a little more but it's well worth it. You get 1 more bit, the magnet is much stronger to hold the bit in place in the tool and best of all, the ratcheting mechanism is very fine and smooth. Stanley's felt as though there were fewer engaging teeth and is much less consistent about the way it engages. The 3 position selector, for which direction it locks, also feels more secure and yet easier to use.. Everything is more precise. These things are hard to describe but but easy to feel when it's in your hands. This one is definitely better on all counts. I'm updating this review because I'm going to buy more of these and lose the other brands that look identical.

Great ratcheting screwdriver with bad design flaw
3-stars because of the insanely tight fit of the 6 bits in the screw in head. Many other reviewers had stated similar, but I purchased anyway because of the compact design and fine tooth ratcheting mechanism (and those are great features!). Now I only store 4 bits in the head as that makes it a little easier to remove adjacent bits (see photo), but far from ideal. It's hard to believe the engineer in charge let such an obvious design flaw go into production. I keep the screwdriver in my kitchen drawer, but find I reach for other screwdrivers as my first choice, because I hate dealing with bit changes on this screwdriver.
