Body clip for cushings horse
I bought this clipper to shave my horse with cushings disease. It is louder than my smaller clipper (Wahl Iron Horse), but he didn’t seem to mind. I am terrible at clipping. Hopefully I will improve with more practice. There is a trick to holding it at the correct angle. It does get hot so I clipped in 10-15 minute intervals which was all my horse was willing to stand still for anyway. If you want to clip for longer I suggest getting some cool lube or other cooling product. It was easy to disassemble for cleaning.

Great horse body clippers
This thing is a beast! Use it to body clip horses. I don’t use these on the horses’ faces or legs because these clippers are so big, but everywhere else they do great and make quick work of a normally daunting task. You have to be a little careful with the settings so you don’t go too short, but these clippers can handle anything! Durable, quick, easy to maintenance, would definitely recommend.

A powerful clipper that leaves a professional finish
These are the best clippers out there. I bought them to keep the feathers on my Clydesdale’s legs clipped clean. She has too many skin issues due to her very heavy feathering. They go thru her hair so easy. They are heavier than other clipper brands but they work quick and efficient. They are quite loud at high speed but I start out on a lower adjustment and gradually increase the speed as the horse relaxes. These are the only large clippers I’ll ever use.

WOW factor
It can be very challeging to spend 2to3 times as much for something based on reviews but in this caseI did and it was one of the best purchases ever. I've had dog clippers in the $50-$80 dollarrange and they didnt measure up to the hype. The super reviews for this product and my inability tofind a quality clipper lead me to give these a try. These clippers, well, a real beast. Theyhave the "WoW factor" as soon as you begin using them. I have two big dogs (sheppard & rotty) andused to dread cutting their hair 1-2 times per year. With these clippers the hair just melts off of themlike butter, never jams. You really have to pay attention because your initial lack of expectation canbe the issue because of using inferior clippers in the past. These clippers are bigger than most and taketime to get used too. Any percieved negative issues with these is far outweighed by thepositive. While the reviews say the clippers do no heat up eventually they do, even keeping themcleaned and well oiled. Again, minor! You just sit back after the work is done and wish youwould not have wasted money on previous purchases and bought these from the start. Another bonuswas my dogs seemed to be far more receptive/calm to getting their hair cut maybe because they couldsense my reaction to using these clippers. This is a super quality clipper and they lookand feel like you can get a life time of use from them, in the end only time will tell. They arrived in a very nice size clipper case more like a big quailty plastic tool boxwith oil included. I purchase alot of stuff via amazon and give a wide range of recommendations. These clippers would get "6 dog stars" and so I highly recommend them. Once ordered the clippersarrived in 6 days of standard shipping.

Got The Job Done
This clipper got 4 stars from me, because of several things, none of which are how well they clip horse hair. Stay with me.1. The carrying case is flimsy. I'm careful with my tools, and I want better protection for my tools between uses, and during transport and storage. I replaced the carrying case with a sturdy toolbox.2. The printed instructions are pointless. The two minimal line-drawing illustrations are barely 1/2" X 1/2", and barely legible. The instructions are also for several models, and there are no instructions to change the blades.3. The clippers are loud. Lawn mower loud, leaf blower loud.4. The clippers are HEAVY. About 1/3 of the horse clipped, and I'm ready for a long break to let my arms and shoulders rest.5. The power cord was about 10 feet to 15 feet too short to comfortably reach the horse from chest to tail, and I dislike using extension cords. So, we stood sideways in the grooming area, and did one side, then turned around and did the other. The horse didn't care, but clipped horse hair got tracked around.Okay, all that said, I know these clippers. These are the second Oster clippers I have owned in my lifetime (+65 years). The first were purchased by my father in 1960 to clip our Shetland ponies. When I retired from competition, and decided to no longer clip my two remaining retired horses, I gave those first old clippers to a man who had mules. This was in 2012, and those first clippers were still working and clipping well. That is 52 years of good service on those first Oster clippers!Well, one of my old retired horses was diagnosed with Equine Cushings, and I needed to body clip him a couple times per year to help him stay comfortable. <sigh> So, I needed new clippers. He is a fussy old guy. He was a show jumper for 12 years, and a diva, and is not an easy horse. Extremely well-trained, but little things can set him off, and become a huge issue. So, I bought some small rechargeable quiet clippers. He didn't mind them, and they did a good job for the sensitive areas on his face, legs, and belly. But he is a 17.2 hands Warmblood, and there is a lot of acreage to clip. And he grows that Cushing coat like a yak. So, I bought some medium-sized quiet clippers with a long cord.He also didn't seem to mind them, and they did a good enough job on the larger areas on his neck, sides, back, and hips. But he was growing hair faster than I had time and energy to body clip him, and I needed to up my game. So, I bought these Oster Clipmasters. Back to the big, heavy, loud monster clippers like my father had bought in 1960. <sigh> But I needed to get that yak hair off so that my old guy could feel cooler. And like I said in my number list above, there are some issues with these clippers that I'm not happy with. But these things clip off that thick long hair like mowing a lawn. Yeah, keep them oiled all of the time. Keep the air intake screen clear of horse hair all the time. Set the tension so that they cut properly. Check them against your hand to make sure the blades are not getting uncomfortably hot.And my old fussy diva guy just stretched his neck up when I first turned them on beside him, "Here, get my neck first."Your mileage may vary, but these old monsters do a great job for us. :D

Use this on my Percheron for a full body shave. Was amazing! Took a few breaks while trimming just a precaution as to not overheat and used cooling spray as well as we went. Wasnt until very end after about 4 hrs that blades started to get clogged due to denseness of hair area we were shaving on rump. Gets just close enough but not too close and impossible to "nick" them if you ask me. Was exactly what I needed and wanted. Worth every penny! Came in a nice container as well!
