The base of the scale is roughly 4" x 4"; its footprint is a little larger with the bigger plastic tray on top.

My scale never turned on. I am in the Caribbean, returning it will cost more than buying a new one. What are my options in terms of warranty?

Sorry, non of them work very well. Hit Amazon up, because they have had so many problems with this item they should refund your money and most likely won't have you ship it back.
