Buy this spayer for small DIY projects!
I bought this sprayer in order to paint my daughter's kitchen cabinets. I have done a lot of DIY painting over the years, but never with a sprayer. After reading the reviews, I took the dive on this sprayer. It was a fantastic decision. This might be the first review I have ever left on Amazon. But this product is worthy as it allowed this guy to paint some cabinets and make them look fantastic. It is relatively easy to use. The instructions that are included and Graco's youtube channel make it very easy to use. There really was not much of a trick to learning how to operate it -- i just followed the directions. I did go to my local Sherwin Williams and buy a spray tip with a smaller spray path and that reduced the amount of paint that sprayed. I used a 312 tip instead of the 515 that came with the sprayer. It worked very well. We used Sherwin Williams Pro Classic primer and paint. Both sprayed very well without any thinning. I used the sprayer several times through the course of one day -- and had not problem leaving the paint in the sprayer for 90 minutes between coats. The only glitch i had was toward the end of the day after working with the sprayer all day I had to stop and clean out the filter in the sprayer in order to get the proper flow of paint. Clean up was relatively easy. It isn't hard to understand how to clean the sprayer and tips -- it just takes some time. If you are thinking about this product for a smaller size kitchen, bathroom or something that like -- I would say it is almost perfect. Anything larger than that, and I would say you might be exceeding the capability of this sprayer. The paint canister that connects to the bottom of the sprayer just doesn't hold enough paint to do a large job. You would have to stop and refill that container too often. Here is a before and after picture.

Spray Nirvana
I had an older version of this sprayer that died after many years of trusted and reliable usage. I was in the middle of a kitchen remodel and needed a new sprayer to spray the cabinets and the new doors. I have a Graco X5 and it is fine for really big projects but clean-up is big pain and you end up wasting sooo much paint. I decided to upgrade and bought a fancy HVLP spray gun. Aside from the crappy results, it came assembled incorrectly and with a hole in the hose. I patched the hose and fixed the assembly problem. Results were spotty at best and required thinning beyond the recommendation of Benjamin Moore for Advance Semi-gloss. I kind of suffered through the performance issues. Then while cleaning I dropped a small part down the drain. My bad. Called the manufacture the next morning and was told the part would not be available till August. I said I'll be dead or divorced by then if I can't finish this project. No sympathy or solution. I called the distributor thinking they might have some parts on hand. Nope. But they were at least sympathetic to my plight. I mentioned the hole in the hose and they immediately offered a full refund. Cool! Now I'm on the hunt for a new gun. I had looked at the Graco Ultra a few years ago when it first came out but it was pushing $1000. Then I found it on Amazon for just over $500. Love this gun. It excels. No thinning required regardless of paint. Takes just a little getting use to the set up and cleaning procedure. A bit more complicated that my old Graco. Damn had to put my manhood on the shelf and read the instructions. Very demoralizing. Results are fabulous. Like glass. Tips: (1) start at the lowest setting if you are spraying vertical surfaces; (2) make sure you get the right tip. For cabinet work I went with the 312. Study up a tip on what you need. (3) I also but an extension which is super useful when spraying crown moldings or inside cabinets; (4) I debated about the cordless vs. corded. I'm a Milwaukee guy and have lots of batteries. So adding another battery and charger to the tool bag just was not appealing. Also because I have a pretty big project I did not want to run out of a charge in the middle. Overall, love this gun. Plus it came way before the divorce papers would have been served. So Amazon and Graco, thanks for saving my marriage and giving us a fabulous kitchen! I love you both. A couple of useful tips: 1. With my older Graco gun I tended to spray lighter volume and the lowest setting. This gun will sputter a bit on the lowest setting. Experiment with your project. I found between 3-4 and moving quickly gave the best results. 2. With my older Graco gun you could easily let it sit overnight without having to clean the gun. Cleaning takes a fair amount of time to do it right. I called the manufacturer and they said just flip the tip so that it is closed and wrap a wet rag around it. Works great!

Motor burned within 30 mins of use!!! Heed the warnings in other comments that say it breaks.
Despite reading the reviews that this product typically burns “the pump” within a few uses, I ignored it thinking I’d at least be able to get the job I needed done — plus “the pump” can be replaced under warranty (I’d imagine) for first year (or about another $100 when it finally happens). I also bought extra brand name cleaning material to keep the pump in good shape, thinking it’s prevent that some. Only I never even got that far. Unfortunately, it was even worse… the MOTOR itself broke before I finished my first SMALL job! I managed to refill the paint one time during use (maybe twice?) and then it shut down on me (red blinking light). According to the manual, this happens when the device overheats & you have to wait ~30 mins to start up again. To my dismay, I waited and waited and waited and it never would come back again. The manual also suggests this same blinking light ‘could’ indicate the motor has burnt out — which I guess was the case. Why on earth they wouldn’t put in a heat sensor or something else that pauses the device long prior to burning out the motor, I have no clue. Perhaps it does, but clearly it’s failing. Anyways, listen to the reviews on here that say this device is a failure. I was REALLY disappointed because it actually sprays the paint well & was able to get into most of the tight spots I needed (while it lasted).

Works fantastic - sprays nice and fine for a great finish
I have a lot of doors to paint so I invested in a good sprayer for cabinets and doors. This one works great when paired with the right tip for your paint. It took a little fidgeting with the settings to get it spraying the right amount of paint, but when I had it set up right, it worked great. It is a little expensive, but I developed a distaste for cheap tools a long time ago. If you are looking for a good sprayer with a large selection of tips for just about any project, and have a few bills to spend - this one works great. I am a homeowner, not a pro and I figured it out.

Great quality spray, though had pump issue
Sprayed kitchen cabinets with Benjamin Moore Advance. Really pleased with quality of finish. Had an issue though with pump that needed to be replaced. After using it with about 4 gallons of primer and paint, the unit would not flush out with water. Manual gives several reasons, mainly a bad motor that needs to be replaced. Talked to tech support and they initially recommended opening values and cleaning out. Did not help. Eventually they agreed to send a new pump under warranty and that solved my issue. Tech support was great and they took care of the issue.

Over priced, but handy
It's a nice little sprayer, but way over priced. Should be $200-250. Also the liners are pretty much one time use because they lose their seal very quick. I found if I needed to refill more than once, it would lose the seal and air would get in and then you have bad results. Granted, if I'm filling more than twice I'll probably just be using my full size airless sprayer and not this. For all those having problems with keeping the pump primed, it's critical you don't unscrew and re-screw the reservoir. Once you fill the pot and tighten it, you're committed because if you unscrew it the liner is toast. You can maybe once... maybe. I'm able to spray 3 doors (one side) with two coats on a single fill.

It has my vote
I have had hand held paint guns in the past but this one really works. I've done a dozen or so small jobs and it has performed very well. Its so much easier to use on small jobs than my Greco X7 with a fifty foot hose. The RACX tips fit both guns. Clean up is easy, and the spray quality is great. I have read that it has stopped working for other people but I think its probably the clean up procedure they are using. I take the canister and screen off and put a hose right in it and run it on both spray and prime mode. Then I put a generous amount of Pump Life with water in the canister and run that through it for a while and then store it with the canister and Pump Life water under vacuum.

I like it!
I’ve sprayed 4 large cabinet projects now with this gun and really like the way it works, ease of use, and the finish it produces. I’ve been spraying Ben Moore advance and it looks great. I like the fact you have a ton of choices for spay tips, do some research and get the correct one for the job your doing. It’s also easy to clean, although not as quickly as they claim. Very happy with it, and am glad most parts for it are available if it needs replacement.

Sprays great, beautiful finish
I've kept my tips very clean and refilled the cup with 20% left in to avoid damage to the cup. I've sprayed 6 gallons already and am still using the same cup with no issues. People complaining about this product most likely dont know much about tools. I male custom built on cabinets and thos sprayer has been working perfectly.
