NinjaBatt A1502 Battery for Apple MacBook Pro Retina 13" A1493 A1582

I’m inclined to wait a while to report on this battery since I’ve had three replacements now from different companies. I didn’t feel like the last one (reportedly the oem supplier) was worth the cost. But so far this one has been doing fine. It has some instructions/conditions for optimal battery life that I don’t recall coming with any other replacement. I’m trying to adhere to those and generally keep from just siting with the charger plugged in all day. But the relief of being able to remove the charging cable at all was worth the price. Fit fine, battery life seems good, totally compatible with my late 2012 mbp 13” non-Retina. Time will tell if it duly performs its function and merits marks in quality.

So glad I bought this battery. My MacBook Air Model A 1466 that I bought in 2016 was not holding its charge any longer. The only solution was to buy a replacement battery and the NinjaBatt fit the bill perfectly. It comes with the necessary screw drivers to remove the back and the battery. After watching a tutorial by 'MADE by AP' it was easy peasy to install. So if you are slightly reluctant to do this on your own do not be concerned, it was not difficult at all. Tech service places charge from $150 to $200 for a replacement battery. This was a much cheaper way to go. And you don't have to wait a few days for your laptop to be in a shop.

So far so good. MacBook is back to preforming properly with this new battery. Comes with all tools needed to get the job done.

The MacBook Pro started immediately after installation. That's always a nervous moment. I am using CoconutBattery to check the specifics. It is a Simplo battery, which is one of Apple's genuine suppliers. Full charge capacity is 6600 mAh, the same as my original battery. Battery temperature is fine at 79.4 F. It is indeed a new battery at 0 cycle count. On startup the battery was at 60% capacity. I am beginning the calibration process. The only issue is manufacture date. This battery is more than 8 years old, manufactured on March 30, 2015. That variable seems to be pot luck. I recently ordered a replacement battery for an older MacBook Pro. That was also a Simplo, manufactured in mid 2021. Installation went fine, using a couple of YouTube videos. I recommend the OWC version because it uses the fewest number of steps. Other videos remove items that are not in the way. Also, solvent is not necessary to loosen the old battery. I used a small flathead screwdriver to patiently cut through the paste. There is an opening at right to get started. Once that cell is lifted out of the way it's easy to access the next one. Make sure to totally drain the old battery before beginning. These are dangerous batteries if breeched. I allowed the MacBook Pro to go blank then I restarted more than 10 subsequent times to get closer to absolute zero. Hold down the power button for roughly 10 seconds then release. The Mac will begin the startup procedure. It will steadily cut itself off quicker each time. You're good when the Apple logo no longer appears. I took the extra step of removing the heat sink and replacing the thermal paste, using a video from Luke Miani. However, he errs in spreading the paste on the smaller silver chip at right. That one is not supposed to be covered. I used Arctic MX4 paste instead of the one he recommended.

The battery was exactly as advertised. It fits perfectly and has the rated capacity. We’ve gone from 20 min on an old (original!) 2014 battery to a minimum of 6-7 hours of use from 100% down to 10%. This may grow with several additional cycles from 100 to 10%. The price is very reasonable and it was a nice touch to include the 2 screwdrivers required to do the job. This was a very easy replacement to do. Well done, NinjaBatt!

I purchased this battery in February 2024 by July 2026 the battery went out. I was not expected such short use on this battery at all.

The battery in my MacBook Pro A1502 (2015) was so bloated that it was starting to bow the case around the keyboard...I shouldn't have waited so long to replace it! I thought it would be expensive, but this was such a bargain to keep this machine running. I was surprised when I opened the new battery. It seemed so FLAT in comparison (well, that's how it is supposed to be!) It was challenging to understand how to remove the old battery with the provided instruction card, so I pulled up a YouTube video. My model was set up slightly different from the pictured model. It would have been great to have model-specific NinjaBatt video tutorials linked with a QR code on the card, to help make is clear which cables need to be disconnected and in which order. The old battery did take some patience to remove, and the gentle prying turned into a battle of wills between my hands and the adhesive (& my fear of the old battery exploding made me hesitant to use much force). It felt weird putting isopropyl alcohol in the case to loosen the adhesive, but of course it evaporates very quickly and causes no problem. Once the new battery was installed and cables were all connected (a simple process of reconnecting the cables in the order they were disconnected and adding screws back), i fired her up and checked that basic charging and discharging worked before putting the case back on. As far as i can tell so far, this is a quality replacement battery. She gets about 3 hours on a full charge now, which i think was about its top performance in 2015. Very happy to keep my browsing and basic graphics machine going!

I was worried about changing the battery on my MacBook Air, being that mine is 5 years old. After watching a YouTube video that suggested NinjaBat, I ordered one on Amazon. Just follow the video and it tells you step by step. It also comes with complete instructions. You get the battery and the special screwdrivers needed to change it out. Make sure to keep the screws in the proper place, a few are different sizes and they are very small. So easy! My laptop works great now. No need to buy a new one. I’m very happy with this product.

Initial review Aug2022 - I was ready to retire my old 2015 macbook but took the plunge and decided to revive it. It was the best choice! After installing this and a new SSD it's working great and ready for a few more rounds. I take good care of my tech but I've never had a laptop last this long and still so fit for work. The old battery was swollen and in need of urgent replacement and this one fit perfectly. Taking the old battery out was hard work (YouTube can help with that) but installing this one was a breeze. The instructions were very clear and straightforward. It works perfectly and lasts much longer than the old one. Couldn't be happier! Update Apr2023 - battery worked well but lost most capacity after 6 months.

I put this into a Macbook Pro 13" 2017 (A1708) for my daughter. The original Apple battery was reported to need servicing. It is always a chore to remove the old battery as it is well stuck on the chassis. The battery does *NOT* come with a ribbon cable for the battery daughter board to the main logic board so do take care in keeping the original cable. Installation went well. Battery only had 5% charge so needed to run a full charge cycle. Coconut battery app reported the battery to be manufactured in April 2022. This is not too bad as I have had batteries from other companies sitting on a shelf for years. I can't say how this will perform as only time will tell. Some replacements I managed to eek out years while others only under a year.
