White Crab, 6 oz

For the price and for being canned, this white crab has a decent quality and some flavor. The product is basically white crab flakes in lots of liquid.

This is good for crab cakes only. The crab is mush. It doesn't have much flavor. It seems to be left over crab bits.

For years, I have purchased Chicken of the Sea canned crab to make a low carb crab dip that uses mayonnaise, liquid crab boil, crab, sour cream, and a bit of Old Bay Seasoning. Everyone loves it.However, I have never seen the price of a single can be so astronomically high as this. This is the only single can I can find of this product on Amazon, but I will not pay over $13.00 for one can! Wal-Mart carries this same size for $5.84, and the local grocery store carries it for even less.This price is highway robbery.

The only positive thing I can say about this product is that--as bad as it is--it is still far superior to Bumblebee crab. The Chicken of the Sea Lump Crab can be used very well in crabcakes, and I've used it with success for years-- in crabcakes--when the price of crab soared beyond my willingness to purchase it at deli prices. I don't know why this white crab can product is even on the market. On the Chicken of the Sea website I noticed even THEY had difficulty finding any possible way to disguise this stuff in recipes.

Just love the texture and the amount in the can.
