Good alternative than killing someone
The only issue I had with these little pepper balls is that after a few hours after I received this item in my mail I had the pepper balls loaded into my clip and I noticed that there was some dust on my clip, but I didnโt think anything of it. That is until I started noticing a burning sensation on my skin. So one of these pepper balls came apart inside my gun and made a huge mess. So before you load these into your clip, check each ball closely to make sure there isnโt any cracks, or any other gaps or holes that would allow the pepper dust to escape.

More distance than pepper spray
My Byrna experience is limited to practice shots on public ranges. I have not, nor will I do live testing of the Byrna Pepper Projectiles outside of legitimate self-defense, but on the shooting range I can easily hit a 4" target at 30 feet, well beyond the range of pepper sprays. When I cannot legally carry a gun, the Bryna gives me stand-off distance and repeat shots, helping me escape to a safer place. The capsules rupture readily even at 50 feet distance as long as the target backing is hard enough. While not a match for a real firearm in a stand-up gunfight, the Byrna does inflict minor trauma (getting hit with a paintball is not fun--the Byrna is basically an OC-filled paintball) and pepper gel inflicts a burning sensation on skin, a severe burning sensation when inhaled. OC is nasty stuff and when I carry pepper spray or my Bryna, I have a decontamination wipe in a pocket to counter the effects of the chemicals.
