These strings are adequate, but they are a bit more loud than I wanted them to be....took longer to break in, as well...

Excellent strings at an affordable price
I upgraded from the Corelli Crystal strings to these strings and they are the best strings I've played so far on my violin. The tone is excellent and the projection is awesome. I recently played an outdoor wedding, unaccompanied, and was told the sound resonated well to the back of the crowd and even around the neighborhood. I'm not 100% sold on the steel E string which is why I gave only 4 stars (I'd give 4.5 if they'd let me). The E is nice, but is a bit "tinny" (not surprising since it's plain steel) which has taken me a little while to get used to. The longer I play with it the better it gets, but I may end up experimenting a bit more to find my perfect E string. I'd definitely recommend these strings for solo performers, though every instrument is different and you may need to experiment with strings before finding the perfect fit for your instrument and playing style. Overall I'd say these strings are absolutely awesome for the price, though they are the most expensive strings I've tried so far and can't comment as to how they compare to a more expensive string.

This is so beautiful sound, very high quility. But short life
Hi..This stings is suitable for every player..Sound is attractive, beautiful and abundant sound....also soft feeling on fingers...When I compare by Dominant strings,It is more fexible, mellow and spaceful range sound like large field than Dominant..Only one problem is too early finish life..It is too short....loosen quickly.....

Dreadful
The third day I recorded the sound because I could not believe how bad it was on my Holstein. Yep, not for my violin. Obligatos are better right out of the box and will improve with break in.

5 stars for overall playability and pricing.
Great string set. Well priced. They excel in playability. I never had a synthetic string that plays as responsive. I love playing them. The sound is clear and sweet. They are higher tension, but not stiff, very flexible. My better violin takes them very well. My cheap violin sounds dull with these strings. I guess these strings bring out the strengths and weaknesses of your violin. The E string is a good match for the other strings; very consistent up and down the strings. This might be different on your violin, but for me the G string could be better. After playing them for 2 years I still stand by my previous review. These are great strings. I since convinced 2 more violinists to give them a try and they love them.

Not impressed
I was using Dominant Visions on an intermediate level violin ($2000) with a wonderful rich and ringing tone. I thought I'd try something else just to see, and I used Shar's graph to find something that would not be overly bright on an instrument with a lot of projection. These suckers took a long time to break in, longer than anything else I've used (Helicores, Pirazzis, Dominant and Visions) and they remain obnoxious to tune - and I've got fine tuners on all four strings. They're a month old now and I feel like they should have settled in better - I play an hour to an hour and a half a day. About once I week I debated changing them, but I'm cheap, I paid for them and I'll get my 3 - 4 months out of them. But I won't buy another pair!

The best I have found
I have tried strings such as Obligatos's and Evah's but they are just loud and the Infeld reds and dominants are a bit better but not quite there either. These strings are in a class far from the rest that I have tried. I rarely comment about my purchases but when something is this good they deserve credit. Based on my past experience I thought I would be tossing out the E for a gold one. To my surprise it is also the best E string I have heard. Just as the other poster stated that the entire set works so well with my violin I do not have to mix brands. The sound is also the warmest I have heard.I highly recommend these strings to everyone.
