Are these bristles every bit as soft as the oral b extra soft?

No. They are about the same softness (or firmness if you like) as the normal Oral-B heads - maybe a little softer, but not "extra soft", as the product description says. Other than not being as soft as advertised, they seem to be quite fine.

Type 3765 refers to the battery system. It fits oral b mechanical toothbrushes but not the sonic ones.

no, they don't. they fall off the end while brushing.
