Minor corrections to product description.
Maybe more later, but just a couple of clarifications to the product description. It seems like a great little player, volume is massive and not muted per EU Regs. It has no internal memory as most players do - you will need an SD card to store anything. The card slot is MICRO SD - not standard SD as listed. Also it shows the SD capacity as 512Gb - In fact my 1Tb card works perfectly well, so that is not a limitation. UPDATE After living with this for a few weeks, I'm more and more happy. Sound is fantastic, player is easy to use and reliable. One minor drawback is that the firmware might be better are organising your files - for example, I can select by genre and then by album title, but not by genre then artist. And sometimes the firmware will second-guess you on your own defined attributes - so James Brown is listed under the firmware's genre of Funk, not my genre of Soul. But these are minor quibbles for a unit of high quality and great value for the price.

Surprisingly impressed
Feels heavier than it looks, but that could be the metal exterior. Touchscreen for most of the controls. Didn't read the pdf manual, but was able to figure most things out just by playing with different swipes. So ease of use isn't intuitive, but once you know what you're doing it's fine. Screen is bright and clear. Volume button on side is a twisty knob. I've had this thing at 30% - 40% with bluetooth earbuds and it was fantastic. Sound quality was crisp and clear, and I've not played with the built-in equaliser. I bought this specifically for creating custom playlists to manage my autism and so far so good. I wanted a case to carry it and was tempted by a several, until I realised this is compact enough to fit into a GoPro minicase that I had, and the Bluetooth was not affected, so saved some money. Micro SD card: fingernail wasn't enough to push it in as far as I needed to, so had to get creative to solve this minor inconvenience. I used a 64Gb card and I would suggest organising any music prior to uploading e.g. By artist / album etc to make finding a specific song easier. Overall, if you're paying over £150 for something like this, you ARE going to get a quality product that is superior to cheaper alternatives, which I've also used but ended up buying this instead. This is the best Mp3 since my ipod nano.

Excellent little player, with a couple of minor issues
First the "bad" : The volume control is finnicky to operate, especially if you have the leather case for the player, but once can also change volume via the touch screen within the "song playing" window. Once you move the volume control the whole display becomes a touch screen slider where you can change volume more easily. The screen is small, and can be really awkward to change things in the E.Q. , your finger will cover the numbers so you can't really see very well what it's changing to. A small stylus will do the job better. But I've found there is absolutely no need to fiddle with the equalizer , the out of the box settings are fine as they are ( IMO ) Sound quality IS amazing. The bass, mid and treble all stand apart beautifully. My car only has stock speakers and even on those it sounds incredible. Put it through a decent set of IEM's or speakers ( I have Edifier speakers in kitchen ) and it sounds amazing. Make sure you enable "Stand by" in the options or you may find the battery flat the next day. When I use it in my car I turn it on and leave it next to the handbrake ( the bluetooth range is good too ) But when I get home I turn off the stereo and the player SHOULD stop too, but a couple of times I've seen it still playing and if you don't stop it your battery will be flat the next day. Stand by mode only kicks in if the device isn't playing. The only other niggle is something that would apply to ALL players, the difference is quality and volume between different mp3's . Some can be quiet and average quality , but the player still manages to TRY and get the best from them. A normalization feature would have been nice, otherwise go through your entire mp3 collection and adjust them manually ( nope!! ). I couldn't justify spending more than this on a player, and for the amount it costs it sounds great. I used to play music via my phone, but doing that AND using Google maps while driving just chewed up battery life, so I wanted a dedicated player. The difference between this and my phone audio is night and day. 100% worth it if you don't want to spend more than £200

Use wired headphones for best results.
I tried listening with Bluetooth buds, very poor. Through it in a draw. Then I bought Beats Solo 4, and used an audio lead, WOW. Unbelievably brilliant. The clarity, and sound is the best I’ve heard. Recommend.

Music sounds fantastic, useability lets it down
I've given this product 3 stars, but let me start by saying that the sound quality is a solid 5 stars. Simply taking my SD card of mp3s out of my phone and putting it into the Hidizs resulted in an immediate and perceptible improvement in quality. It inspired me to re-rip many of my favourite CDs in lossless quality so that I could enjoy them even more. So perhaps that's all you need to read - if you just want to sit in an armchair in a quiet room, with your best pair of headphones and your favourite album on, you're going to have trouble finding anything better. So why did I give only 3 stars? Well, it's everything else about the device really. It's tiny, making it fiddly to operate. The touch screen is laggy and unresponsive, which caused me to tap or swipe multiple times because nothing was happening but then have all of those inputs register at once. The bluetooth connectivity often seemed spotty and I would often have to put up with micro-stutters and pauses in the playback. The range of the bluetooth seems very short, and the device has an annoying habit of disconnecting from bluetooth if a track is paused for more than 30 seconds. Yes, this device is best used with wired headphones but sometimes wireless is the way to go - during a workout, for example. The UI feels a bit unintuitive and even when you are used to it, as navigating to a particular set of settings or through a file structure still feels like an overly long journey (especially with the slow screen and touch responses). Lastly, and this is something that really bugged me, when shuffling through a playlist, the device doesn't create a randomly-ordered list to run through in sequence; it simply plays it all randomly! There are two annoying consequences to this: Firstly, you might get the same track played twice in a row. Secondly, skipping backwards and then forwards again will result in a different song playing because the next track is always random. I feel slightly bad to leave an unfavourable review because it does play music extremely well. It's just everything surrounding in terms of useability and convenience that lets it down. I understand that you can plug this device into a phone or other music player to use as an external DAC, which would at least retain the convenience of having the responsive UI of your phone... but then you have to walk about with a little cube constantly attached to your phone. And you would still have to deal with the spotty bluetooth if going wireless. In conclusion, this is great if you love to intently listen to full albums while sat in a nice chair. But if you want an everyday music player to walk about with, work out with, commute with and shuffle with, I personally wouldn't recommend.

Brilliant piece of kit
Got this to replace my old player after it died. This is compact. Has fantastic sound. It uses mirco sd cards so you can change music like changing cds. There is a small amount of on board memory so you can store your favourite tunes on the device. There is a 3.5mm wired headphone socket. A 2.5mm socket for audio to computer or amplifier. The unit is charged by a USB c interface. I use thr bluetooth to link to my bone conduction headset. I can not fault this player. The interface is easy to understand. You can select songs, albums, artists or files to display. The volume dial on the side can be set to be on all the time or disabled if the screen is off. It has a screen saver option. The battery life is very good. I think it will depend on how you use it. If you use wired headset or Bluetooth. I have been getting at least 15 hours of play back with the Bluetooth. Which is far better than my old player. Highly recommended......... brilliant piece of kit

Sound and build are great, but functionality and performance is very poor
As soon as I got this I thought it was great from first impressions, the build quality is good and I loved the form factor. However as soon as I wanted to use it that's when the troubles began. Initially when trying to copy files across I soon realized I couldn't insert the SD card and plug it in via USB, the drive kept disconnecting and reconnecting. So I used a card reader and did that myself manually (Which was disappointing) When that was done (About 5000 FLAC files) it seemed to take forever to scan the files, and also realized that any time I added more I had to repeat the same process. The interface is just very clunky and not easy to navigate around making the experience a challenge. The final straw which resulted in me requesting a return is the Bluetooth, this is very unreliable, in the short time I've had this I've had to restart it each time to get it to play over Bluetooth, and unfortunately restarting took too long, by the time I had it ready on the school run I was almost home. This item feels like it should still be in testing and I feel the software is the most likely cause, but I am not prepared to wait for an update on an item that costs £200, I think I may have to pay a bit more for something that will work properly.

Small product big heart
As soon as I opened the box was surprised by the size and design. Bluetooth connectivity and availability to add an expansion memory card, definitely worth the price and better performance and product compared to the likes of Sony, Samsung or Apple products. Small product with big heart.
