Very good Japanese steel slicing knife, but not for the uninformed. This knife must be hand washed and dried after each use as it will rust if not properly maintained. The beauty of this style knife is that, assuming you have the equipment, it an be repeatedly honed and/or sharpened to maintain the 14° 2-side blade angle. And it is so economical that when you’ve sharpened it for the last time it is inexpensive to replace.

Well built, easy to handle and use great buy for the money

I recently purchased this knife set and I’m thoroughly impressed. The knives are exceptionally sharp and have made meal preparation an absolute breeze. From slicing vegetables to carving meats, these knives have shown exceptional precision and maintained their sharpness remarkably well. The handle is very comfortable, and the cover protects the knife in my lunch bag. Nice for the value.

Very sharp

Worth it for the price. Looks exactly like the picture. I like having the sharpener embedded within the block. Knives have been good so far!

I know, I know. It's a cheap knife. But I will tell you, I purchased this to replace kitchenaide santoku knife I've had for about 15 years before the handle finally gave out. My husband kept together for many years - but she just gave out. That's a pretty long run and it was a knife I used daily. I always handwash my blades. It also kept an edge. I have high hopes for this one. But it was a fair price so if I have to replace it I will. Having said all of this, I never hesitate to update my reviews should new info seem useful. I had previously bought this knife 3 years ago. It's not a high end, professional chef's knife or anything, just a good workhorse to do basic chopping and cutting.So, when I needed another knife to use at a second home for the exact same purpose, I figured I'd buy this knife again. The second knife is was lightweight and flimsy. The blade is thin and has already begun corroding. I wasn't expecting the same quality as a $500 Wusthoff or Henckels - just the same quality as the previous KitchenAid knife I paid the same price for.The first knife I would have rated 4-stars (for the money, it was a good buy). The second one for which I've written this review is 1-star at best. Even for the price I paid, I'm disappointed. I would have expected consistent quality with something branded KitchenAid.
