Perfect for flipping stakes over a 600+ °F grill, and they even fend off heat enough to allow direct handling of hot items straight out of the grill for a short time. 18 months update: since I'd bought these gloves basically at random and had a great experience, I thought there could be even better ones around and dove into the different alternatives listed at Amazon and settled on G&F’s TOP 100% premium grain leather because of the 100% grain leather description, the plentiful good reviews and the high average user rating… I was greatly disappointed: those gloves might protect you from open flame for an instant, but are totally unsuitable for grilling or BBQ, they transfer heat almost immediately and are not fit to handle anything hot, like cast iron handles, drip pans, baking trays, etc. I’ve ended up comming back to this old battered Mr. Bar-B-Q gloves, which still do a much better job insulating my hands from heat after 18 months of grilling (several times a week) and sporadical ill-advised abuse: spreading red hot lump charcoal embers directly by hand, carrying a hot ceramic pizza stone some 30 ft. away, and some other similarly tomfoolery, with not a single singed finger for it… I’ll be getting a new pair soon.

These are the best grill gloves I have ever owned! They cover enough of your forearms so they don't get burned and you can easily pick up bacon presses off steaks or burgers without feeling the heat. These are definately heavy duty grill gloves worth the money.

Very good quality

As one reviewer said, once hot, they don't cool off easily... but being able to turn kabobs or even move grill grates WHILE IN USE hasn't been a problem. Great length for forearm protection too - and not just at the grill! I had to deal with some out-of-control jagger bushes today and these definitely saved me a few cuts above my wrist. You won't be dexterous with these on (no typing, that's for certain!), but I have better control than with the synthetic gloves that came with my rotisserie.

I love these gloves!! They are easy to slip on and off and they are not stiff and clumsy for the amount of protection they give. I use them when I am dumping the chimney of hot coals and I feel much more secure that I won't be burned by the sparks. I have a nice pair of iron tongs to move around charcoals so I wouldn't expect leather gloves to allow me to hold them in my hand. I can also move the grill racks and the pizza stone with them on if necessary. For all of my purposes, normal home charcoal smoker and home charcoal grill, these are just great.

These do not work as oven or BBQ gloves. They are leather but have very little insulation and when picking up a hot object you will get burned immediately They may be OK for welding work or for work that generate sparks but these gloves do not protect against hot objects

Works great and protects well

These are nice, sturdy gloves. The length is great, and protects my arms when I'm messing around with the coals or otherwise digging in, even picking up stray lit charcoal. I'm not very careful and these have saved my arms from burns plenty of times. Occasionally the insulation in the hands comes up a bit short but it's fine for most uses. I generally use these with my WSM smoker, but will even pull them out if I'm doing something messy in the oven or grill. I just wish I knew how to clean them well...

Purchased these for our Woodstove. They are awesome you could put your whole hand in on the fire and wouldn't feel it
