Very useful for ear training. Great for Rock and Metal players.
For rock/metal players, you do not need to pick up Major ii V I if you are already familiar with the major scale. I found this book invaluable for recontextualizing Phrygian Dominant, Minor, Locrian, and Altered Scales. This is my 2nd Jazz book from this series, my first was Chord Tone Soloing. With that said I would rate this book lower in difficulty from a technical standpoint, than Chord Tone Soloing, but better at internalizing different modes. This book will get your usage of Locrian and Altered Scales sounding very musical, which is a feat in and of itself. The last chapters of the book also cover key changes, mostly to Minor 3rd but this is an essential skill for rock players as well as Jazz. While there is actually a lot of theory behind it, the key to studying this book is to let your ears guide you and lock into each mode as it's presented.

Exactly what I was looking for
Minor II-V-I Mastery just arrived today, though I have been working through the major version on Kindle for a few weeks now.I highly recommend this book. Joseph Alexander starts off with the fundamentals - not long explanations of theory, but the essential building blocks of jazz soloing - namely how to identify and play from specific notes within a chord. There is guidance on how to become fluent in targeting specific notes as well as what level the guitarist should be before moving on to more complex ideas involving chromatic approach notes and the bebop scale. What i like best about these books (so far) is that they are undiluted. They are aimed exclusively at readers who want to improve their single note jazz lines over the said chord progression.I was a little dubious about buying the paperback version, as this appears to be an independent publisher and they can be a bit hit and miss. However, Fundamental Changes books appear to be of extremely high-quality binding and printing.I am already planning which edition to buy after I have mastered my current batch. Highly recommended to the budding jazz guitarist.
