Yes it works with apps on both android and iOS, but better on android. Make sure the the black dot on the ring comes in contact with the phone in the area of the phone's antenna: middle back on android and center top on iPhone — also if there a case on the iPhone you will probably have to contact the ring on the face (glass) side of the phone.
