The negative reviews here are very deceiving and all due to people not reading and understanding what this product is. It is very simple. If you purchase an unlocked phone, which is a phone with no carrier attached to it, you then purchase a sim card such as this to insert and sign up for this carriers service. This specifically says it is for the GoPhone service, which is AT&T's plan for unlocked phones. The GoPhone plans have nothing to do with other AT&T's other plans or services. It is only for unlocked phones. I purchased this to go with the new Amazon BLU R1 HD. You can set everything up before putting it in the phone but you do need to physically have the phone for you will need some numbers from it. When you set up the phone you can insert the SIM card before turning it on or after you have set up other phone only features. The GoPhone sim card is simple. You can register it very easily on line. You link it to the phone you are using and you have to choose a plan. There are many options and there is no contractual obligation. You only pay per month unless you want autopay where you will save $5 per month. Once you pick your plan and make the payment for the month your card is set to go and you will receive a telephone #. I got the unlimited talk and text with 3gb of data for $45. great deal.Everything about this sim card and its purpose is simple. It only provides you with the service linked to this sim card. If I changed to another phone as long as it was an unlocked phone and accepts AT&T as a carrier I would simply insert the sim card into that new phone and the service would transfer over. I think people are confused thinking if they have AT&T as their cell phone carrier and buy an unlocked phone they should be able to transfer their # over to the sim card for the unlocked phone as well. Not the way it works. The phone # you received with the GoPhone sim card only applies to unlocked phones. It in no way links to a preexisting REGULAR AT&T account.Sorry for the length and if confusing but I hope I could shed some light. I needed a cell phone, bought an unlocked phone, got the GoPhone sim card and set up up within 3 minutes online and the service on my phone is great. The card was very easy to insert into the phone and activate. Honestly made everything so easy.

I got a new phone, and my current SIM was too large. I couldn't replace via AT&T's website, since it was a pre-paid plan rather than a standard plan, and I didn't have the patience to wade through the automated phone menus. With the pandemic I didn't want to go to a store in person, so I turned to amazon. Put it in my phone, activated the new SIM on the AT&T prepaid website, and things worked perfectly. The packaging isn't super official, it just came in an envelope, but it did the job.Note: these cards will not work with AT&T's standard plans, only with their prepaid plans. If you don't already have a plan, it may be a pain to get one with the SIM; it will likely easier to get a SIM card when you purchase the plan, rather than before. Not understanding these things is the reason for a lot of the one-star reviews.To reiterate, you should only be ordering this if you already have an AT&T prepaid plan and need a replacement SIM for some reason. But if you happen to be in that situation, this is exactly what you need.

I bought this in order to ditch my land line and keep the number in case I want it in the future. I have many old cell phones and it seemed a good idea to press one into work again as the holding point for the land line number. The kit is very straight forward BUT ... if your goal is the same as mine - porting a land line number to be a mobile number - do not activate it online. Go to an AT&T store and work with a Sales Associate. He or she will take care of everything for you and within an hour your land line number will become the cell phone's number.Since this is a "pay as you go" deal, you can do this for less than the cost of 1 month of land line fees from your local phone company.Added benefit: once you've moved the number to AT&T, it becomes an "mobile number" and from there you can move it to Google Voice and so avoid even the minimal fee to AT&T past the first month or so of service (about $25), or you can keep it with AT&T (best deal is about $100 per year with some reasonable number of minutes in case you actually want to use it but don't want to use Google for calls).This is perhaps the least expensive way to gain control of a land line number - assuming you have one that you are particularly attached to ...

This is advertised on the pictures as an att card that says you can load it online through att. You can't! Its through an individual who works with phone plans. The cheapest he'd sell me was a 50 dollar plan. Online they sell as low as 15 dollar a month prepaid plans! They wouldn't use this sim card though to add mins or activate online through att.If you owed att money.. you could get this and still activate it without any problems though. Not having to pay att back before using it since its a separate deal.

Item exactly as described. Very pleased with the choices of sim card sizes. No mistakes because three size options to customize depending on the type of device you have.
