yes you can add any decorative fire products on top, it will not effect the usage of the wool.

Q: Is the Ceramic Sponge reusable?

Yes it can stay within the burn chamber of your fire pit for weeks before we recommend replacing.

Q: I have a bio fuel fireplae with wool in it already, is this supposed to be added on top of it?

No this is designed as a replacement when the existing wool gets dirty and saturated.
