A must have companion for Quest Kids
The overall Quest Kids game is fantastic for any parent who likes board games themself and would like to introduce their kids to gaming as well. This expansion takes it to another level in my opinion, giving the parent the ability to narrate a continuing story that adds new ally characters, game mechanics, and bad guys with each addition quest. There are items that you get in early quests that don't come into play until a few quests later, it was all just a great experience for my 5 year old. She got so excited and begged me to continue on so we could find more Tolk Gems!As you get to the final quests there is a bit of extra work in terms of setup, but the game experience is well worth it.We are organizing a gamer group for play dates and plan on playing through it again with them!Great addition to an already great product.

Best decision buying this with Quest Kids base game.
I also bought this to play with the main game of the Quest Kids since it has a story/campaign adventure to play through. WOW. It was a new style of game play that we had not yet tried playing before since these story mode games end up being for older kids then my 4-7 year old's. This campaign adventure was just challenging enough that it captured all of our attentions and we wanted to continue on through the story unlike others that we have set aside and just stopped. We got treasure and loot and met new characters, decisions needing to be made, and things to remember and do to advance in the game.....oh and even a big boss at the end!!! it was so different then anything else and Quest Kids is at the level my family can play at without being to complicated. Fantastic fun all around, really enjoy the work as a team theme in the game!

Need the base game
The games probably a lot of fun but we didn't know you needed the base game. We bought this for our boys because we play DnD and thought they'd enjoy this. The fact that this is a campaign should be front and center in the advertisement. Now we have a useless game because the main game isn't selling right now. 😒

If you're into dungeon crawls already & your kid liked the base game this will probably work for you
This is an expansion for the base game that adds 5 modules. This is a bit of a step-up from the base game, or at least it will be if the adults at the table aren't already into the more serious board gaming hobby (i.e. you've played more than Scrabble or Monopoly). It's not that the expansion is super complicated - it's absolutely not. It's just that it might be a bit beyond what some family gamers have experienced.Unlike some others, I don't recommend buying this along with the base game unless you already know you like the game. Me, I'm more a Euro gamer and less into dungeon crawls. I tried this with my daughter who is totally into fantasy shows - Troll Hunters, Jurassic Park, How to Train Your Dragon - Dragons' Edge, etc. so I was expecting her to like the game. It was more meh for her. There's a little bit of a sandbox feel to the base game (you can go where you want within the game - within some parameters of course) which didn't appeal to either her or me. I got this automatically thinking it would was a no-brainer. For some people it will be. Not so much for us which is a totally subjective experience. It's important to note that this is an expansion that's really driven by the adult at the table. This isn't like a game like "Hey That's My Fish" where you can teach it in 60 seconds and both you and the child are on your way. The base game combined with the expansion requires an adult who's motivated and enthusiastic because that's what's going to translate into excitement for the child. You probably already know if you're such a person.I don't want to dissuade anyone from getting this based on our experience. If you're a serious gamer and you're into dungeon crawls and you have a young child then absolutely get this expansion. If you're not already into dungeon crawls and looking for just something simple to play with your kids this expansion might be a bridge too far. The base game is rather simple and I definitely recommend it to family gamers. The expansion I think is for those who already know they and their kids are ready for more which this does offer.

A nice addition to the base game!
My kids have really enjoyed Quest Kids - the combo of simple gameplay plus a dungeon-crawlerly feel has been a hit. This is a very nice little expansion, which adds an enjoyable story/puzzle element. In hindsight, the base game could have used a little more of this to start! My kids like uncovering new "clues," reading the story, and piecing together the (very simple) puzzle. It just made it feel a little more "epic." There is a little extra setup, but not much. That all said, don't expect to be BLOWN AWAY by this expansion. It doesn't change the gameplay THAT significantly - it just adds a handful of new Dungeon Tiles, which lead you to clue cards. There are also heroes that can support you. If you're sick of the game, this isn't probably going to refresh it enough, or add a ton of additional replay value.Overall, if you're family is a fan of Quest Kids, this is probably a no-brainer. If you've played it to death... this might not be a necessary pick up.Recommended!
