Worked well but broke a jaw
I’m replacing the exhaust manifolds on a 1998 f150. I was able to get/cut the nuts off. The studs that didn’t come out with the nuts stayed in the head. While tightening down the remover on the third stud one of the tips of the jaws broke off. About 3/16 of an inch broke off. I was able still use the remover to get that stud and the remaining studs out.

Functional Tool, and good quality.
Product functioned as expected. Keep in mind that in some cases the space around the stud may not be enough for the tool, may required some grinding or a different removal method.

It worked but...
I bought this puppy because I had to cut a spring bolt on my exhaust manifold and was left with a stud sticking out that wasn’t moving. The extractor worked just fine. One time. When I say one time I’m not sure how durable it will be. For me, I needed one stud removed and it did the job but the feel of the inside guts didn’t feel the same afterwards. There are three jaws that do the clamping and those jaws are held in alignment by three little coil springs. After a hammering with my air impact that can do almost 1300 ft/lbs they were out of alignment, the jaws not being true anymore. I was able to get them back aligned easy enough but I’m not sure what that says about the durability of the tool. If your situation is like mine, you need to extract one cut bolt, it worked perfectly. If you are looking for long term durability, I’m not convinced that coil spring jaw thing is going to hold up long. Also, the extractor takes a 3/8th’s impact. For some reason I assumed it would be a 1/2 inch

It got the stripped stud out
This tool has removed 2 studs in hard to reach places that other extractors could not. I stripped these studs (1993 Mazda RX-7, ~26 years old) and just needed them removed. The Performance Tool Stud Extractor was able to grab hold and eventually remove them. It is a 4 star review, not a 5 star review however because when removing the first stud the tool "broke," or rather I broke it? I must have over tightened and extended the chuck-style gripper too far because it now requires help to open and close correctly. Having said all of this, I was able to remove the second of the 2 studs even after I broke the tool. I see no reason why it won't continue to work, so long as I sort of realign the teeth as I tighten the chuck on the stud.Long story short, even with a small issue that I'm pretty sure I caused, I was able to remove 2 stripped and project blocking studs out with this tool. The tool saved me more money and time than it costs. I would purchase it again.

Exceeds expectations
I had a bolt bent and threaded into a power steering pulley and it would not come out, neither with vice grips, nor using the "two nut" method. I learned about this product in a YouTube video and decided to purchase it, as a last ditch effort to remove the bolt. This tool was very simple to use and it very easily removed the bolt on the first try. A very well designed tool that is worth every penny.

Best stud remover I've ever used
I never write reviews, but I had to write this one - for all you shade-tree mechanics out there like me who never know whether a specialty tool is going to work as advertised. Well, this one does! I had three broken 3/8" studs on the collectors of my '99 Mustang's long-tube headers. To make matters worse, there wasn't enough clearance between the collector and the studs to even try one of the old-style stud removers. So I tried heat, a pipe wrench, a jam nut - you name it. As a last resort, I ordered this from Amazon, stuck it on my IR Thundergun impact wrench, cranked it up to max, and let it pound away. Before long, the stud began to back out, then sped up, and quickly came all the way out, without breaking and without damaging the threads. Amazing. I wish I'd had this years ago. It took five minutes to do what used to take forever. No welding, no drilling, no cursing, no sweat. If it had only lasted this one job, it would have been worth it.

Works great, but Cheaply made.
1/4" to 1/2" Stud ExtractorThese things are amazing, no more fighting exhaust studs. Just cut the head off, remove the manifold then go at the stud with this.Unfortunately they use cheap Chineseium for the jaw, so the tool ends up breaking a jaw or (or all three) after each use.Good thing for the lifetime warranty!Wish they used impact tool steel on the jaw, but their loss not mine.

One of my best purchases I have ever made
Wow this things saved my buttHad 3 super tight studs one of them actually broke and I tried everything to pull it outDrilling it vise grips giant channel locks everything and nothing would make it budge. This stud puller really impressed me my god!It pulled all three out in less than 5 minutes. Effortlessly. Just make sure you use it properly I think most of these bad reviews are from guys not using the tool right.Just tightened it with a ratchet at first than take out the ratchet and put a wrench on the silver piece and loosen your stud. If it does not catch tightened the ratchet a little moreIt’ll get the job done!
