The GOAT for music hearing protection
I have been using these for going on five years now; my first pair lasted me more than three years of regular use at concerts and band practice sessions before the rubber started to break down. Even at a Sunn 0))) show that was hours of 120+ dB, I went home with my ears feeling fine; I won't use anything else now! They're also super comfortable for long-term wear, such as at music festivals. A must-have for drummers and metalheads.

Go for the higher decibel coverage
From my husband: These work really well for protecting your hearing at concerts. I debated between these and the lower decibel ones but decided to give these a try. In the last few months, Iโve used them for AC/DC and Metallica concerts and Iโm glad I went with the higher decibel coverage. I was able to hear everything clearly but without any of the overwhelming loudness. I highly recommend. As reference, Iโm 6โ1โ, 210 lbs and the medium fit well.

Awesome Concert Earplugs
I have used a lot of different earplugs for live music, and these have been by far the best I've tried. They lower the volume without losing out on too much of the higher frequencies. Highly recommend for concert goers.

Confusing packaging and Amazon listings, but I'm told these are the great.
I bought these based on a recommendation from a co-worker. We both work in the Professional Audio world. He has years of experience, is a musician, and has worked as an audio engineer. I find that these fit nicely and are comfortable. I have not yet worn them in a situation to test their noise protection. My review is more related to the posting and how hard it was to determine if I was buying the right product. So I saw multiple listing (not unusual) for the Medium size. But each listing had different decibel ratings (16 or 31) and even tried to find a model or part number, but that was difficult to determine if there was an actual difference or multiple models. I assumed they might have two levels of protection. I purchased the one that stated the 31 dB of protection. Even after getting them, the packaging is also confusing. I almost thought I got the wrong one, but after more closely looking at the package, I could see that it had 16 dB (noise reduction rating) and 31dB (Peak). So I can see the confusion. The 31dB Peak reduction at 3150 Hz. The 16 dB rating is based on the lowest protection level. I've read a few listing were people said they wore these and still had hearing damage. I'll just say, that is ignorance and stupidity on their part. Sounds at 85 dB for an extended period of time will cause hearing damage. 120 dB will cause immediate damage. A concert is rated at 120 dB and that is an average. If you get right up to stage PAs, that is going to be a much higher dB level. If these have a max of -31 dB (at 3150 Hz, a very specific sound frequency) that is only going to reduce the "average" to 90 dB at 3150 Hz. You should expect a frequency range of 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz at a concert and if you are close to the PA System, it will be much higher than 120 dB, so you will experience hearing lose in that situation, no matter what "ear plugs" you use. Just be smart about your hearing! Also, there is no clear "Model Number" to relate to the product listing.

Not as effective as Iโd hoped
If you are thinking that these are appropriate for drums, they are not. They seem to seal into my ears, but they are difficult to get seated properly. You definitely get more of the high frequency information than with ear muffs or foam ear plugs, but I canโt imagine there being 31db of noise reduction. Everything is still quite loud and fatiguing on my ears. They probably would be fine for quieter instruments, but not drums or cranked amps.
