KILZ Waterproofing Wood Stain, Exterior, Semi-Transparent, Cedar, 1 Gallon

I've sold Kilz products both wholesale and retail over the last 45 years. The consistency of quality is outstanding. This is my first experience with their deck stain, and it was a very good one.

Years ago I had a leaky fixture under my sink. The smell lead me to a mold and mildew problem that was not pleasant. I cleaned, scraped and treated the area to the best of my abilty and applied KILZ Mold and Mildew grade bathroom paint. Kilz made my under sink area look amazing and 7 years later, no mold, mildew or stains. So when it was time to stain my fence, I was happy to see Kilz as one of the affordable brands. My fence is a decade old and looks like new after applying this stain. I did have another product on the fence and took my time ensuring it was all cleaned off ahead of application and as you see, Kilz went on clean, smooth and easy. I recommend!!!

Used it to stain our deck. Easy to apply and covers well.the problem is shipping. I ordered this product 4 times and only received it twice. Seems to get lost in shipping.

I absolutely love this wood stain! The red color is beautiful and it's semi transparent but goes on beautifully and one coat is all you need! You cannot beat the price! I've used more expensive brands of wood stain in the past and they cannot compare to Kilz! The end result was beautiful and the best waterproofing ever! I'd buy it again and again and recommend it to my family and friends!

After power washing and bleaching a 15 year old wooden deck, applied with both brush and roller, results were outstanding, water beads up after each rain and so far (about 45 days) shows no signs of wearing off/thinning. Took slightly more of the product than anticipated, but likely due to application errors on my part. Simple to apply with easy clean up with soap and water, would highly recommend this product over several others on the market which did not even come close to the results obtained with this product.

I have used Kilz products previously when we needed to paint over a red wall so a lighter color paint could be applied and the previous red color would not bleed through. This time we wanted to paint our 18' x 38' deck that had been re-sanded. I wanted a sheer color that would allow the wood grain to show through and still cover and waterproof the deck. I saw Kilz had the product and a colored paint that met my criteria.The first coat is nearly complete. I have just ordered 4-more gallons to finish coat one and apply a second coat. The completed portion of the deck looks great! We have had several horrific rain storms and the Kilz painted deck has held up beautifully. I highly recommend Kilz products.

I used this product for a deck. It was well prepared by scrubbing all the dirt off and cleaning with a deck cleaner followed by multiple rinses of clean water and then sanding when thoroughly dry. The stain was easy to apply and the deck was thoroughly soaked with stain. The end result was pleasing and attractive. However, after only one winter, the stain had flaked off/vanished from several areas of the deck (not heavy use areas), showing bare wood. I sanded those patches and reapplied in the spring, only to have the same thing happen this past winter. This product seems to have the properties that one might expect from paint rather than stain. Maybe "transparent" rather than "semi-transparent" might have been a longer lasting option. I should mention that the color I ended with was Cedar, not Redwood. I was sent the wrong color for one of the cans. I started with that before I found out it was wrong, and so ended up returning the unused can and replacing it with another Cedar.
