Works great.
Took this to the islands with me during vacation and it worked great!! I used it in the bedroom every night. There is no smell or ordor. The cartridge it comes with is small and only lasted one night so we bought larger replacement cartridges to last us the rest of the week. Overall, this is a great way to keep mosquitos at bay and sleep soundly. Though, over time, can get expensive with the cartridge replacements.

Highly Effective, Safe and Odor Free Mosquito Repellent
I live in a very heavily wooded area with a ton of mosquitoes. I like to host outdoor gatherings in my backyard, but I hate having to wear bug spray or risk getting mosquito bites. I tried all sorts of other things, like citronella candles and bug zappers, but none of them were very effective. Consequently, I decided to give thermacell a try. I’m happy to report that it is incredibly effective! Since purchasing it, my family and I have been able to comfortably sit outside on summer nights without wearing bug spray and have not gotten bitten once! The thermacell machine is very easy to set up, use, and recharge. The refill cartridges are not very expensive and are very easy to insert and remove. The machine itself is lightweight, durable, and has a minimalistic and modern design. It is very small, and easy to tuck into a corner or hide behind a potted plant. The thermacell does not generate any odor. It releases a very faintly visible wisp of spray. It is safe to use around kids and pets. It covers a very large area. The cartridges last a long time. This is hands down the most effective and convenient way to prevent mosquito bites!

Decent but inconsistent
We live in an area where there aren't a ton of mosquitoes, but the ones we do have are persistent little fellows. They are also the fastest and most agile bloodsuckers I have ever encountered. It is like they have a detection device because as soon as you look at them, they take off. They are huge fans of ankles. Anyway, we bought one of these to try to make our morning coffee and evening cocktails a little less like a visit to the Red Cross Blood Drive. We bought one and the results were sporadic. It seemed to reduce the number and also slow others down enough that you were able to swat them. But it certainly didn't eliminate them. We got a second one and now we put one down by our feet and the other on the table. This has seemed to do the trick (so far). Will follow up as we get more use. They are easy to use, silent, and odor free. As others have stated, they DO NOT work well with even the slightest breeze. And, despite Thermacells claims, it does not have to be a strong enough breeze that it keeps the flying phlebotomists at bay. My only other complaint is how long it takes to recharge. The battery life is not great, and it takes FOREVER to recharge. I really wish you could put rechargeable AA's in it instead. All in all, decent but not great.

What a Joke! Very disappointed.
I purchased the E90 Rechargeable unit that claims a 9 hour battery life, and included a 12 hour repellent refill cartridge. It was delivered the day after I ordered it. Very quick! This cute little critter killer was easy to setup even though the instructions were NOT very clear, however, after waiting a ridiculously long time (over 4 hours) for it to charge enough to actually use, I was only able to use it for a couple of hours last night and less than one hour this morning. The "refill" cartridge included in the package was LESS than half full of repellent liquid (this can't be normal?) right out of the box. Once it had warmed up and started effusing the "mist", I only used it for a couple of hours, then went to bed. During the time it was in use, I did not get bitten by any mosquitos, but I have no idea if the little critters had simply stopped being active or if the repellent was actually working. Assumed I'd be able to get a better indication of its effectiveness the following morning. Well, it's now the following morning. After powering up the unit and waiting for it to begin effusing the mist, the mist lasted only about 20-30 minutes. So, I removed the top of the unit and looked at the cartridge which was completely EMPTY! This was supposed to be a 12 hour refill!! I got less than two and a half hours out of it. The battery charge indicator says its fully charged. This Thermacell E90 Mosquito Repeller might truly be effective in keeping the critters away, but I think the company owes me a free refill cartridge that is completely full and will actually last the full 12 hours claimed on the box and in their description. Very disappointed by this experience. THERMACELL??

No Bites. Ever.
I'm allergic to mosquitos and attract them. Everyone is but I get very large welts from 1 to 3 inches in diameter. We live next to wetland. The bats can't keep up. This Thermacell and refills is the BEST solution to prevent bites. Better than DEET because I'm not drowing in poison. Better than citronella in a candle or an outdoor tiki torch. Better than a fire pit (no smoke inhalation). Better than a bug zapper or a mosquito magnet, both of which attract mosquitos to kill them. All of those things WORK, but THIS Thermacell and cheap refills have SAVED my backyard life. I wish I could pack one on my belt for hiking around.

Easy to Use, Portable, Need Multiple if Really Buggy
I love that this thermacell bug repeller is portable and can be taken anywhere. It holds a charge well and can be used multiple times before dying. The top is magnetic and makes it really easy to take off, replace the cartridge and put it back on. To turn it on you press the button once. The lights will circle as it heats up, once it is at the appropriate temperature the lights will stop circling. It has 4 different settings depending on how much repellant you want. You can visibly see the repellent mist as it gets released. It does have a very faint smell, but not bad. You should not keep it outside unless it is being used as it is not meant to be rained on. It can get splashed, but you should try to keep it dry. I am giving it 3 stars because it does work, however it does not keep all bugs away. My backyard is pretty buggy, I would probably need a couple of these for it to actually work successfully. My biggest con about this item is how quickly the cartridges get used. It was essentially empty after 2 uses, each about 30 minutes long. Due to the price of both the thermacell and the cartridges, I am unable to use it as often as I would like. I wish it was a bit more affordable.

This little electronic bug-bot is worth every penny
We practically live on our porch. Meanwhile, our neighbors are world champion mosquito breeders. I have tried every 5 Star product that has promised to be the miracle solution I’m looking for, with mixed results. Coils, lanterns, sprays, sachets, oils, torches, foggers, and prayer. It was down to a choice between voodoo and this pricey little bug-bot and its rabbit hole of commitment to equally pricey refills. Desperation is a strong pry bar on even the tightest wallet. This. Thing. Works. I have no idea what they put in these vials, probably unicorn slobber and angel’s tears for how well it works. The label lists a lot of natural oils and any scent that comes out is faint and pleasant. You can see the warm vapors curling out the top. It’s sort of mesmerizing. This thing is so easy to use. It charges by USB cable and the charge lasts a decent amount of time. Turn it on and give it about 10-15 minutes to warm up and start defending the space. Our biggest problem with using it is remembering to turn it off when we’re done. Even if you’ve flattened it, the little lights will try to come on with their friendly little chirp and then chirp off again to indicate it needs a charge. It has a nice set of lights that let you know it’s on, or that it’s in warming phase. Cartridges are easy to replace. The lid lifts off easily and you just drop a new cartridge in. The cartridges last a decent amount of time. Just remember to keep extras on hand. There’s nothing much worse than sitting down on your deck or patio, confident in how well your little lightweight bug-bot is, only to get the disappointed “I need refilling” chirp. Speaking of lightweight, this fits easily in your hand and is lightweight, even with a full cartridge. It has an attractive shape with a flat bottom that sits well. I certainly wouldn’t want to drop it, though, as it feels a bit more fragile than I’d like. That’s probably my only real complaint about this little unit. When we finish adding a deck, I’ll be buying more of these. They may not work by killing the mosquitoes, but they certainly keep them away.
