Appion MGAVCT 1/4" MegaFlow Vacuum-Rated Valve Core Removal Tool

not only is this the best core remover on the market, I wanted to share the great customer service I got from Appion. I bought this core remover a year ago, and recently due to some idiocy, I ended up breaking the ball valve. I tried disassembling it and fixing it but couldnt get it to seal reliably. I reached out to Appion to see if they sold the ball valve and stem piece that holds it but I did not expect a response. a couple months go by and I noticed they said they would be happy to send me the pieces that were broken at no charge a couple days after I contacted them. I quickly responded back thinking that I had missed my chance, but they responded right away and shipped it out same day. HVAC specific tools are really expensive these days and you need a lot of them so having a company stand behind their products and supporting customers after purchase is such a breath of fresh air. I will probably be switching to appion for a lot of my new purchases because of this. if anyone from appion is reading this, Kara was amazing and very understanding when I failed to respond to her email for months!

INDISPENSABLE item for DIY minisplit install. This and the 5/8" one too. They should package as a pair. IMPORTANT.... Watch the triple evacuation video on Youtube from HVAC Tips guy ... I used his simple setup with two Appion Core removal tools. I did lose an hour wondering why no vacuum then I found and removed a "3rd" schrader valve, one was in the 5/8 Appion core removal tool, one in the 1/4" Appion core removal tool, in addition to the schrader inside the minisplit port. Once all three were gone, the vacuum sucked down fast. VERY HAPPY with the tool. BTW, if you're wondering what a schrader valve is, it's the same little screw in tiny valve that holds air in your tires. It works one way. No mystery to that thing. Those Appion core removal tools worked great.

Quality, well built, name branded tool that worked like a charm! Had a central ac condenser with a leaking valve core. Watched a few videos and one specifically by this parts manufacturer, Appion. Please watch their video first, then start practice seating replacement valve core into the tool to understand how it feels and holds. You do not want any potential for the valve core to fall off in the process so the "fork" on the end of the removal tool may have to be spread or snugged SLIGHTLY to hold the core tight. If so, use a pair of pliers to GENTLY do so. This adjustment is so minor you won't be able to see a difference - but you will feel it when inserting the valve core. Once comfortable with your skill fitting the tool, you'll need to fit the removal tool to the leaking valve core just as you practices with the new one. Once you are confident it will hold snuggly, re-assemble tool and you can start the repair. Peace

Easily removed 3 of 4 valve cores with no issues. The 4th one was getting caught by the inlet o-ring, evidently a known issue of being too thick and easily squeezed. The core was also being caught on the edges of the ball valve (a few thousandths smaller bore needed). The ball valve handle and magnet screws were coming off on both tools the first time I used them. There’s no reason they couldn’t have used a drop of blue sealer on all the screws. And lastly, one tool came with a magnet cracked into 3 pieces. Fortunately Amazon has 30 for $10 that only need a few pieces of tape to space then to the correct thickness. For being 3x more than the other CRTs, I was surprised by all the shortcomings

So I have a cheaper product that is made to do with this one is, however they do not fit the same, I find that this brand is made to fit in Tighter spaces, and you can put it at angles that are more likely for the real world if that makes sense I assume if you're here you know exactly what I'm talking about, but anyway go with this one, is constantly but it is better for hard to reach spaces, it works like a charm, it's not bulky, and this is in your pocket no problem if that's what you're trying to do with it
