AOMAG1/8" 2 Way Normally Closed Pneumatic Aluminum Electric Solenoid Air Valve 12V DC

Not sure why so many other reviewers received valves with 1/4" NPT ports. I ordered these valves (AOMAG 1/8" 2 Way Normally Closed Pneumatic Aluminum Electric Solenoid Air Valve 12V DC) more than once, and each order received always delivered 1/8" NPT threads on both inlet and outlet ports.However, the ports are not tapped perfectly - standard 1/8" male NPT fittings only screw in about 1-1/2 or 2 threads. I have dealt with this by chasing the threads to the bottom of the valve's ports with a 1/8 - 27 NPT tap that I happened to already own. Doing this enables 3 to 4 full turns before standard male fittings are tight. Since these valves are being used on robots in FRC competition, I think more threads need to be engaged so the fittings will not loosen during matches with frequent high vibration. For those interested in doing something similar, be sure to keep the metal chips and dust that result out of the valve interior. I stuffed tissue paper to the bottom of the ports before doing the tapping, and cleaned the ports well afterwards, before assembling. If you don't already own a 1/8 - 27 NPT tap, of course, this approach would be less appealing.As to performance, the design of these valves do meet our prime requirement - for use with vacuum they needed to be direct acting (i.e. not piloted). All 6 tested valves, when fed 12VDC, switched reliably against vacuum of 25 inHg (and probably beyond - that's all the vacuum pump can achieve). In the OFF state (normally closed) they also held 25 inHg overnight without leaks. Two other valves purchased are spares, and have only been tested for switching (not holding) vacuum, but for the tests run, 8 of 8 passed. On the whole I am very pleased with performance so far.If you use this valve for switching vacuum, be sure to attach the Output port towards the vacuum generator. I can only conjecture how these valves will perform for switching pressure, since I have not tested for that. However, I would think as long as the Input port is kept on the compressor side, and the pressure is kept within the specified limits, they should work for that as well.I would have given 5 stars if the 1/8 - 27 ports had been tapped a little deeper from the factory. But the price was acceptable, and the work to make them better was relatively minor, so I only reduced the rating one star.

As others have said, this is 1/4", not 1/8".For me, that didn't matter at all - I needed a high flow pneumatic solenoid that would at least 10PSI without leaking while acting quickly enough to allow me to slam it shut if pressure drops too low. I bought one for testing and it has held up immensely well to my abuse. It also DOES NOT use 6.5W. Not even remotely close - try 2.1W... Though power use does go up the longer it is open, so it may hit 6.5W after an hour being open or at higher operating temperatures than it experiences on my bench (it will be installed in my engine compartment as part of my boost control setup).I have ordered a second one to act as a dump valve (release wastegate pressure quickly) as the other 10 pneumatic solenoids I have all bleed down over time and this one holds pressure perfectly even overnight. It accurately holds anything from 0.5PSI to 20PSI and probably more, but my setup can't manage more than 20PSI and I won't need to hold more than about 6PSI at any given time - the dump valve will open if the pressure goes above about 6.0.

They work but they have to have power supplied before the air is supplied and the seal inside got ripped on 3/10 but reset it placed a small o-ring around the shaft and under the silver plate and put the two screws back in and a couple just needed the screws tighten. But they work

Didn't find information about maximum pressure and used to much which made the valve fail. I order another one plus a pressure regulator' By keeping the pressure between 100 and 120 psi it works great. That information should be with or on the valve when shipped.

Product works great and everything. Giving a low review due to I order 1/8" valve and received a 1/4" valve in place of what I ordered. Made the product work for I needed it for. Just cost me extra time and money to make it work.

I always read reviews where people wish they could give 0 stars and now I understand why. I ordered one of these for an install that was quite lengthy and hard to get to. I finally get everything installed and this thing is leaking a lot of air by. I hope it is a fluke so I order another one. When the second arrives I realize the in/out sticker was installed on the wrong side and I had plumbed it backwards. This aggravated me, but I returned it and kept and installed the new one. This time it's not leaking air by. The next day my air tank is empty. After testing my system for leaks I figure out that the new one is leaking around the plunger. Do not by this thing. They are junk!

Solenoid leaking air at 100 PSI, despite label saying it's rated for 1 MPa. Useless for my project.

The valve looks decent and works great, but you will have to retap the holes as they wil NOT fit a 1/8" npt fitting.Bit of a bummer for an otherwise great product. I had to buy the wire tap for £10 (and as npt is not that common in the UK it took a while before it arrived)
