No drawstring waist, just elastic and button closure.

Mine are size large, yours will be whatever size you order.

What is length for pants?

The pants are a little on the long side. I used safety pins to bring them up a few inches. Or you can simply roll them up. I have fairly long legs and they did drag the floor.

Material feels course when opened package. Does it get soft when wash?

As in most new clothing, the material softens after washing. Absolutely love my pj’s!
