Are you able to switch the L so the short side is to the right of the long side?

Yes. To do so you will have to drill a whole through the desk top using all of the mounting wholes. from there you will have to try to assemble it in a mirrored fashion to the normal assembly instructions. I bought two of these desk, one for me and one for my wife and I assembled it so that the short end of the desks touch and make a half rectangle.

Can I disassemble this without ruining it if I were to move?

Yes; it very easy to put together and disassemble. Well made, and sturdy for the price.

Is there an extension desk that we can add to the short side? Not another L shaped one like in the picture but a single desk. Thanks!

Did you ever find the extension? The only one I found that came close from the same brand was 24" deep compared to the 19" of this desk. This desk is also a half inch shorter according to the specs.
