The whole spout feels like good thick glass. The carafe doesn't feel quite as thick or sturdy but as I shattered the spout on another server I'm glad to have thick glass on this one's spout. The handle is very solid and while it's not the most ergonomic it's easy to handle.

Note only the lid is made in Japan, not the glass (headline states Made in Japan for set, not until the description does is state thailand/Japan). Packaged well and early delivery.

Well made but extremely delicate. Not for the elderly, kids, camping or vacation. Your cat's tail will bump this into the sink on the 1st pass. If you're a hand washer or OCD, the glass Kalita is for you. After acquiring all the items for consistent pour overs, I'm sorry I spent the money. ($225) I can only make one cup of coffee. I could have had a very nice coffeemaker. I highly recommend the matching Kalita filters. Very good at keeping out the fine grounds.
