Review: Valedictorian of the genre!!! - This is truly the most awesome “diet book” I’ve found. It contains EVERYTHING one needs to succeed. I’ve always found these types of books and programs lacking and hard to follow because they simply don’t offer enough info that’s broken down enough to make them easy to abide by. THIS book took those failings and made an all-inclusive diet/exercise program that even the most unmotivated people can get on board with. Not only does it explain the process of carb cycling, but it provides an actual schedule to follow the cycle with a variety of recipes for things to eat on those days. If you don’t want to eat a particular recipe, it also breaks down the categories of foods you should be eating and what portions. If that’s not easy enough, there’s a list of tons of foods that fall under those categories. They even provide shopping lists in the back of the book to make it as easy as it can be without having groceries delivered right to your door. The bonus for me on top of all that was that the recipes were mostly vegetarian and they provided many options. Almost every diet book I’ve seen was of little use if you didn’t eat meat or fish (both of which I don’t). So a book with recipes that I’ll actually eat that are approved with this program is an extraordinary find. And the recipes are high class. They went out of their way to make every dish tasty and flavorful so you don’t get sick of eating plain-Jane salads. These authors are the valedictorians of their genre! *The only aside I have is that there was too much “fluff” inspirational talk through the first couple chapters before they got to the “meat” of what you need to know. Review: Worth the work! - Today is day 21 for me. I have followed the program almost completely - I haven't done their suggested exercise but I have my own workout schedule already so I'm not sedentary. I had one slip up this week but otherwise, I've done what I was told by the Powells (ha ha). I think this is a really good program. I've lost 7.5 in 20 days. I have a total of about 20-25 pounds I need to lose so I think that's a pretty good rate of weight loss. If I was just counting calories, I'd probably only have lost about 3 by this point. It took a minute to get used to eating 5 times a day but now I really like it. It helps break up my work day to think in increments of getting 3 food breaks during the day. I felt like the recipes were a really good start point to figure out how I'm supposed to be eating and now I'm comfortable with creating my own meals if I want to but I still mostly stick to their recipes just to make it easy. There are enough choices that I'm not getting tired of the food. The one and only possible detractor would be how long the food prep takes, but if I'm being real, I'm sure any successful diet program would entail similar time spent on food prep. I am really happy I started this program. It's given me structure that I've been lacking in trying to do this without a plan before and the results have made me so happy!

Great lessons, difficult meal plan
I LOVE the Powells! I follow them on social media and watch the show. I even check out their websites occasionally! That being said, I was a little disappointed. I love the lessons and mental exercises they have in the book, however I agree with some of the other reviews that the shopping list and diet plan are a little much. I wish it would have included meals that use the same ingredients. There are several items that you purchase in a package of several and only need 1-3 out of the package. I would rather have a plan that uses the similar ingredients to make a more condensed shopping list and also more affordable. There is a page that tells you how to keep to the plan using your own foods and building meals. But that's a lot of extra work for someone starting out. I would have loved to follow the plan exactly the 1st time through before building my own meals. I am still going through the lessons and improving my diet, though. Maybe by my next round I will be more skilled at building my own affordable meals to stick to the plan better! :)

Read this if you've given in to the poor reviews
Some people are posting poor reviews based on the "complicated" recipes.... Perhaps if you have never ever cooked or meal prepped before they can be slightly daunting (and that's a stretch). However, they really aren't much different than other recipes you'd find in weight loss books. I have completed two week's worth of meal preps and each prep has taken less than two hours, but has saved me SO much time throughout the week. In regards to the shopping lists and daily menus: YOU DON'T HAVE TO FOLLOW THEM EXACTLY! They actually state in the book (pg.72) that you can create your own menus and recipes and that theirs are guidelines/suggestions. They even include a brief 100-calories food list to make it easy to pair foods together. You don't have sprouts in your cupboard? Then move on to a different recipe. You don't like mushrooms? Don't use them. In my two weeks of meal preps I have not followed a single day to the tee, and have really only used six of the recipes (a couple of which I tweaked). The whole point of the book is encourage the reader to think about their weight loss as a transformation of the body AND mind and that it's not simply a diet to get to your goal but then turn back to old habits. If you're very rigid and take everything you read literally, then this might not be the book for you. However, if you are able to use the text as a roadmap, and be flexible and creative, then give it a try.

Finally found a diet I can turn into a lifestyle.
Excellent program. I finally found a plan I can stick to. You eat 5 times a day, 3 hours apart. Everything you need to know is in the book. Workouts, how to perform the moves, recipes, meal plans, motivations, real life solutions. For this plan to work it requires preparation. This can be daunting. Writing your meal plan (if you don't like the preset ones), making a shopping list and doing meal prep. It is an involved plan. But I feel it's worth it. This is the first plan I feel I can stick to long-term. The recipes are easy to follow. They are tasty. And the plan is customizable.

Just do it!!!!
This is NOT a diet! It is an easy to follow lifestyle that educates the reader on what types of food to eat and when to eat them in order to achieve not only weight loss but also better health in general! This book also stresses the importance of drinking water and simple daily exercises that you can do in the comfort of your own home. My wife and I have been following the plan for just about a month and already see results not only in our waistlines but also our energy levels. Chris and Heidi spell out EVERYTHING for you down to grocery lists for the meals you'll be making so you don't have to calculate anything. It's the closest thing to hiring the Powells to be your personal trainers. Hopefully they will release an app to go along with the program cause it can get tedious to go look stuff up in the book.

Yes a lot of the bad reviews are true but no one said losing weight permanently would be easy
This book does seem overwhelming at first but I know it works. The recipes are not typical recipes someone thats trying to lose weight or hasn't lost weight would have stored away, like powered peanut butter but Im not just going to jump right into it in one week. I'm progressing into it. Like the tip for staying hydrated is one the key factor to losing weight. The meal plans they had together day by day unless you live at home and don't work...there's no way anyone can do that with a 40 hour job. Plus it would cost so much money, So I picked from all of their meals by their high carb, low carb days, cheat days and made sure the meals have common ingredients that way I don't have to spend a TON of money on random things Im only going to use once. I know a lot of people are saying the book is just a guideline you can choose your own foods but if I did that I'd be lost. Trying to form my own food plan is not my strong suite, thats why I hired Heidi & Chris for $9.99 to tell me lol. As for the cooking Lord have mercy I'm going to try my best. My job doesn't even allow eating while working until you go on your lunch and breaks and I work a 10 hour shift. I don't know how this is going to work but I'm going to do my best to make it work because I know IT WILL work. There are too many people to have success with this to say it doesn't work and just from following the water tip and exercise tips alone in this book, I already dropped 10 lbs in 2 weeks. Come on now, some of you guys just want everything served on a silver platter. This is a lifestyle change you have to be dedicated heart & soul. Not just a one time fix.

You won't regret starting your weight loss journey with this book.
Love this diet. It's basically carb cycling. The meals they plan out are perfect for beginners and this has been the only type of nutritional plan that hasn't left me craving one thing or another. I'm a terrible binge eater, and these meals have the perfect balance of protein/carbs/fat so that your body is getting all that it needs. It's amazing the difference of how you feel within just 3 days of when you start it. I had zero sugar cravings, and overall super thankful for this book 🙏

Lost 10 lbs in the first month! 10/10 would recommendw
This book really works! In my first month I lost 10 lbs for real! and I wasn't even doing the exercise plan! It's filled with three weeks worth of really tasty recipes. I'd say I really like 95% of them, so it's all killer with very little filler. The groceries were expensive to start out but you are building your pantry. Now that I've come to know what I need and what I don't, I've got my grocery bill down to about 100$ a week. Everything is really well explained and the recipes are quick, simple, and tasty. It really taught me how to properly season my food, which was always a mystery for me. I feel full since there's 5 small meals a day. At first it's a lot of cooking but you get used to it and figure out how to meal prep. It comes with a daily exercise plan as well but bth I haven't touched that part, though it's all explained well. I'm just lazy. There's also some really nice mental exercise which are rooted in cognitive behavioural therapy. It's all lessons about believing in yourself and staying positive.

Buen libro

Sympathisches Paar, guter Ansatz
