I am an elementary school teacher at a small independent school, covering grades K-3. I got this book for a kindergartener who LOVES princesses, and needs a progression that's just a hair slower than what our main math book provides, with more practice problems before moving on to the next concept. The book serves this purpose. I would not trust it to teach addition or subtraction in the first place, if homeschooling; you should get a comprehensive math book for that if you're not confident teaching it yourself (like Beast Academy, our main math curriculum). Pedagogically, it's mediocre. But for review, it works fine. Like most themed math workbooks, the theming is often kind of phoning it in - often little more than a picture of a princess asking you to help her count random objects, and a few pages have no theming at all, just pink sparkles around the edges and one kind of sad little bird flying over a full page of routine math drill. Several of the pages do have more creative Disney-themed puzzles (not anything to challenge a kid, just things like secret codes or math coloring puzzles that break up the monotony a little). I don't think it'll make math thrilling or super enjoyable for most kids, even most kids who like princesses, and I don't think it will illuminate anything for a kid who is actually confused about anything. But I do think it provides thirty pages of perfectly serviceable practice problems, and that having a "special princess math book" can at least take the sting out of needing extra practice. My student was only mildly pleased, not really excited - but she did extra practice without being sad about it. I am satisfied with that.

The books contents are great but someone covered the $1 print on the book with a "Great value" sticker. Worth mentioning.
