I bring this little tool on every saltwater fishing trip now. Before this, I carried mini scissors and pliers with line cutters, but after using the SNIP, I stopped bringing all of that. Been using "fishing" sissors to cut braided line and flurocarbon line. This snipper is 1000 times better. So glad I purchased it.

These babies rock. I love to fish, and I have two boys who like to go fishing with me. We spend lots of time rock hopping on the Potomac River to find those special eddies next to quickly moving water that hold ferocious smallmouth bass. However, because my boys are both young, they aren't the best at tying knots. And because, between the three of us, someone is always getting snagged and breaking a line, or changing hooks, rigs, lures, or other terminal tackle, I end up spending a lot of my time on the water tying knots and snipping lines. This little device cuts through everything with a little snip, from ordinary monofilament to braided line. I attach it to any grommet or zipper pull on my clothes and it is always inches away when I need it. It is far more convenient than a heavy pair of pliers and far less expensive than the fancy line snips that fly fishermen use. (I fly fish a little bit and the price point on fly fishing gear seems to be several levels higher than good ol' redneck fishing with a spin or casting rod and reel.) And the best part -- I "lose" these all the time and end up buying another set, only to happily discover them still attached to jackets, board shorts, shirts, or whatever I was wearing the last time I went fishing. Its like finding $20 in your pants after they went through the laundry! My only minor complaint is that the lock feature is not terrific as jostling these releases the lock and exposes the jaws. This hasn't caused me any problems (no cut fingers or anything like that), but I would have liked a more secure lock.

This is a line cutter that handles braid and mono of any thickness with no problem. I have even cut wire leaders on occasion, and the edges remain sharp. I like the lanyard attachment so I can attach it to my fishing bag and always have it on trips. (The lanyard is long enough (around 3 feet) that you can use it without removing it from whatever it is tethered to.) I would recommend this both for fishers and for anyone who might have the need to cut similar things.

By far the best braid cutting scissors there is on the market. To make them last forever don't use them on mono line
