This thing works!
My kids are 11, 9, 7, and 5. The older 3 can understand the motion control of joycons, the youngest does NOT. This sword has helped him tremendously. Because Skyward Sword is largely motion controls and requires you to swing your sword specific directions, it’s hard for my youngest to do with a small joycons. But with this sword, he gets it, and is able to do what he needs to do to progress and play the game. The older kids also love using it.The only complaints I have with this sword are it’s a little difficult to push the ZR/ZL button in the joycons when it’s in the sword, but not impossible. And I find it weird that it holds game cartridges. I’ve seen my kids swing this thing around, I don’t care how snug the cartridges fit, eventually one would go flying off into the distance and get lost. So that feature will forever be unused by us. But as a joycon sword, we love it!

Perfect for sword loving gamers
I ordered this for my 11 year old son. He's very much into gaming right now and has always had a love for swords. He has a huge collection of toy swords, so when I saw this, I had to get it for him. He was super excited about it. It was exactly as pictured. His Switch came cards fit perfectly in the slots, as did the joy-con. Overall, this is a super-neat accessory that I think most boys his age would enjoy.

Adds fun (if you have the room!), but probably overpriced
Skyward Sword (originally on the Wii) was an interesting attempt to figure out how to use the controller's expanded capabilities to require human physical participation in a video game (get up out of your chair!). I'm not sure it really caught on in that form, and although we're huge Zelda fans in this household, I never much played that game on the Wii. Probably really great fun for kids, though!I haven't yet tried Skyward Sword on the Switch, and won't use this peripheral when I do because I have low ceilings and when I hold my arm above my head I can almost touch them. (One of the gestures in the game is to hold your arm-sword above your head, so I just couldn't do that with this sword.) If you want to play the game using this, note that you'll need a wide berth around you in addition to vertical space. But it might be super fun if that's the way you want to play.I got this just because, again, we're huge Zelda fans in this household, and it's a Zelda thing. It's a little hard to hold in my large hands -- not a fault of the design here because it's got to be large enough to hold a JoyCon, but just something to be aware of, assuming you're getting it for a kid. Also, in case it's not clear, this is a piece of plastic with no electronics in it. It's got a decent shape and it's a lot of fun, and if you have the space, the kids will probably enjoy it. And I think adults will get a kick out of it as well, but for a shorter time span.I, um, really don't know why you'd want to store your games in this thing that you're swinging around like crazy. I don't think that's a great idea. It's attractive. It's kind of fun. It shouldn't really have game storage. And it's... overpriced.

Cool to display too
Works great! We only use the cartridges while it’s not in use because obviously flinging them around doesn’t seem too safe at all but it looks neat if you’re setting them up to display while not using. Other than that, they definitely work as intended and just add an extra element of immersion.

Not much too it.
It's a bit basic, only holding hand cartridges and as a decorative look for the Joyce. It attached well but during game play the joycon did come loose from the sword. It's a good way to store or display but not so much for use in game.

Zelda lovers will love this sword! My son plays with it to play his games, plus it does really nice storage of his other games! Easy to use and set up, hours of fun.
