Worth the money
The only review you need to read. This is for freshwater review. NOT FOR SALTWATER!!! These are amazing reels for the price. For anyone who is starting out or is avid fishermen. I been using these 4 to 5 times a week on the biggest lake in PNW. I fish Lake Washington. With 30 different types of fish. And different sizes and weight. With great success. I currently own 3 of these Piscifun Flame reels. On 3 different setups, from pan fish to large mouth and cat fish. My setups are all less then $60 including the line I put on the reel. I I get the smooth cast everytime. From my 5" to 7" pole. Using all size lures and just to a split shot and bober set up for some panfish. You wont be disappointed in this reel. This isn't your cheap plastic walmart reel or reel and combo, you get at walmart. This reel does compete with the Penn or even other high end reels. But for a more affordable price tag. I have mine for a year now. And still cast smooth like day one. I don't keep up with the oiling and other maintenance, becuase I wanted to see how long it will last with neglect, also less $30 I can buy a new one if needed to be. So far over a year of use. And still going strong. I will recommend this to any fresh water fisherman or fisherman. It's a great reel for the beginner or the advance. Would I use this for a bass competition, probably. Lol. So here my setup for pan fish and basic bass fishing. If you are new to fishing or just wanting a nice cheap freshwater setup. Panfish - Bluegill, sunfish, pumpkin seeds, perch, white or black crappie, etc. I use a shakespeare micro series rod. This is my 5" rod. Ultra light. Great to feel even the smallest bites. Around $20 on amazon. Bigger fish - Trout, Bass, Walleye, etc. Berkley Cherry Wood HD This is a full wood rod. Coming in around 6'6 and also a 7" rod. Medium/heavy. Now before you say why would you want a Medium/heavy for trout or even walleye. This has a tip of a light rod (meaning you can fill small bites), but the back bone of a heavy rod. I pulled 13lbs fish in on 8lbs test thanks to this rod. This is like the name says. Made of cherry wood, so the tip is easily breakable. But wont break from weight of bigger fish. It's great rod. I been using them for 15+ years now. And own multiple sizes. Around $20 on amazon. I use berkely invisible line on all my reels. Just personal choice.

These reels from overseas are becoming too good.
First off, I want to say I only gave it four stars because I have not taken it out on the water yet. That said, I have been immersed in angling since '85. I worked at a tackle shop on the Jersey shore, and angling was what set me down the path to study biology and aquaculture. In other words: I have a pretty good feel for what's quality, and what's going to get you through one season. This reel is the former, and for the price it's borderline thievery. Back in my tackle shop days, a new company came to the market: Okuma. I see that as the beginning of the "overseas invasion." It took only a few years for companies to flood the market with affordable, acceptable quality reels. My first purchase from one of those companies was an Okuma Fina FHS50, a 5000 size--I bought it for Striped Bass--mind you this was salt water, not hybrids. I still have that reel and it's in fine condition to this day. Sure the case paint is chipping a bit, but with proper and regular maintenance, it's still my primary go-to when I go for the monsters. That reel is close to 30 years old. Sitting next to my grandfather's old Penn Peerless, I have no reservations in thinking it will be as old as that Penn. My point in all this rambling mess of a review, is: Don't hesitate to try any reel from Piscifun. While this is my first Piscifun, my fishing buddy has a few and has put many hours on them. I tried one of their Viper Xs' for a while when we were our one day, and I was more than satisfied with it. When I moved halfway across the country, I somehow missed bringing a good portion of my freshwater tackle--I only have baitcasters for bass, and pool cues for monster cats, pike, etc. I have to rebuild my freshwater tackle, and I needed something I can toss light lures with. When I ordered, I mistakenly chose the 2000 size reel. When it was delivered I realized my mistake. Even so, I decided to keep it as it's such a nice product that, and if it doesn't fail after a couple hours, I'll happily purchase the 1000 size. Anyway, the reel is incredibly smooth, there's hardly any wobble from the bail when turning the handle rapidly. It has instant anti-reverse (that's not stated in the product description) is light and compact, and it packs the line--top to bottom--wonderfully. It does come with a few shims to install if for some reason yours doesn't, which shows foresight from the company. It's comfortable in the hand when placed on a rod. The drag is exceptionally smooth and responsive, and the all-aluminum spool is equipped with their proprietary easy cast beveled spool. If you are just getting into the hobby, or just want something to use a couple times while at the lake/shore house, this old salt wouldn't hesitate to recommend this reel--and I'd standby that suggestion. I'm already smitten with it and I've yet to get it wet.

Give me looking for a really nice real and a cheap price get this one
I had to take the time to write a review. I bought recently a Shimano Nasci 500. I really love that real 100 bucks. But then I had a Daiwa rod 4 ft. I just wanted to find and put something on there. What a good little match. You could use this one up to 6 ft rod. My opinion. Would be a good little flipping rod. I put 2 lb izor line on it. This would be cool with 6 pound test on a 6 ft rod. Out of the box it was really smooth but I greased an oiled it and it's got even smoother can't wait to use it. Got on 9/4/25 using it on 9/5/2025 really nice reel. It's a little bit bigger than 500 but not much. Of course I'm basing this on the smallest one 20 bucks.

Light weight, good cold weather reel
Used pflueger presidents for years until price went nuts. Have piscifun muskie reals. So I looked at their spinning reals. Really impressed with this real. Ice fishing real shows the quality. Cold makes cheap reals very stiff. This works well.

Shame on Amazon or Piscifun, not sure which.
Update: I will be buying more! This reel does indeed outperform its price. 1. Took the reel out to and it was super smooth. Far better than my other budget Shakespeare spinning reels. 2. I was on the river fishing and I was using one of my other rods when my friend pulled up. He saw my Eagle Claw rod sitting there and picked it up and saw the reel on it- immediately complimented the color scheme. I know that’s preferential but in person it goes together perfectly IMO and apparently his too. I continued fishing while this was happening and he took the Piscifun setup to the water and started fishing. While I was rigging something else up out of no where he exclaims how smooth the reel is. Mind you he has no idea where I bought it or how much I paid 😂. Pretty awesome. 3. As mentioned in my review initial review below I received what looked to be a used reel but still decided to keep it. A day or two after my initial review, Piscifun sent me a message apologizing for the mistake which was more than likely the fault of Amazon really, and offered me a full refund no questions asked. Pretty cool. 4. If I could leave 4.5 stars I would. Not 5 only because I did experience some slight knuckle interference with the bail wire as mentioned by some other reviewers. It was barely skimming my knuckle skin when reeling and not enough to actually prevent me from reeling. This problem is easily taken care of by just making some small adjustments to hand position and I really didn’t have an issue with the reel after that. Also unrelated I went fishing with my friend out on his boat and when I showed up he was wearing a long sleeve Piscifun fishing shirt😂. Pretty cool little company. Initial review: I believe I received a used reel. I got my package and immediately noticed parts moving around inside of the original packaging. When I opened the box everything was just laid loosely inside. No additional plastic or packing materials, just a loose reel in a box. I also found the handle pieces unscrewed and loose in the box. The spool was also already filled with what looks exactly like Spiderwire EZ braid in moss green. I was looking forward to filling the spool with my own braid, but this is for a super budget setup so I’m actually just going to leave the EZ braid on and tie on a leader. Also found loose in the box were two random shorter pieces of low test mono. Because of my findings compared to other pictures in reviews, even some unboxing videos, I am pretty sure I got a used and returned reel while paying for new. With that said, I’ve inspected the reel and I’m just going to keep it. I don’t use EZ Braid but it’s already spooled and I just get to save that much of my own braid for a while. The price paid for this reel and my desire to test the reel out asap makes the whole return and exchange process pointless. Seems to be in ok condition, and honestly the reel looks great on my also budget Eagle Claw Crafted Glass 6’6” Medium rod. After fishing almost exclusively with baitcasters, I’m looking forward to spending a lot of time with this and two other spinning setups. I usually don’t review stuff so fast, but the weird unboxing experience had to be shared. I feel like this reel will outperform its price.
