I love javing these in our garden window; but how can I prevent algae growth in the bottom water?

Actually it's the light that is causing algae to grow. If you use a Tbsp od hydrogen peroxide to each gallon of weak plant food water, it will slow the algae growth. I'm thinking of ordering the white, apply a narrow length of tape vertically inside reservoir saucer from bottom to top edge, spray paint inside with opaque spray paint, remove strip of paint to reveal clear strip on saucer to detect water level, and assemble product per instructions. The opaque Ness of the saucer will minimize the algae growth. I'll also be using my own acrylic yarn as it won't rot like cotton will. Hope this helps! 👍🏻

does it come with a soil pod?

Hi, TS. Actually the product isn't supplied with soil pods. But you can always purchase them separately. The best product for self watering pots are trending coco noir. They expand upon watering and allows even water flow and oxygen circulation. Which is extremely healthy for your plants along with the organic nutrition supplied by the soil itself. Will this wick well using leca?

I’m not sure these pots would work with Leca. The wick is doing the same thing as the leca by evenly watering the plant. The pots work great for all my thirsty plants.

In case you are in the middle of planning your next project or the same one as before these self-watering pots continue to dominate sales within its brand. Yet, these particular products are only sold in sets. The product has been compromised to sale with additional smaller pots for convenience. It is typical to use the six inch pottery vessels more often than the smaller ones because of rapid root growth. By purchasing another set will get you more than what you need.
