Period romance. War epic. Family saga. Popular fiction adapted with crowd-pleasing brilliance. Star acting aglow with charisma and passion. Moviemaking craft at its height. These are sublimely joined in the words Gone with the Wind . This dynamic and durable screen entertainment of the Civil War-era South comes home with the renewed splendor of a New 70th-Anniversary Digital Transfer capturing a higher-resolution image from Restored Picture Elements than ever before possible. David O. Selznick’s monumental production of Margaret Mitchell’s Pulitzer Prize-winning book can now enthrall new generations of home viewers with a majestic vibrance that befits one of Hollywood’s greatest achievements. Review: A Must See - Great epic romance. This film is a classic part of Ameriana. It is a must see. Of course, it paints the Old South as victims of General Sherman. However, if you can just fall in love with the characters and embrace their joys, fears, strengths, and weaknesses, then you will enjoy this film. Vivien Leigh and Clark Gable are flawless as Scarlette and Rhett. However, my favorite character is Mammy played by Hattie McDaniel. Mammy is the only character in the entire story with any common sense. If you enjoy historical fiction, award winning films, or are curious about the quotes that have made their way into mainstream life, then you will enjoy this movie. Review: great movie - great actors great movie stays true to the past

Better than the day released in the theater. The clarity is alive, the orchestra is huge!
OMG, totally restored and remastered! Crystal clear. No scratches. You can see the threads in the fabrics and the sound of the music is perfection.

A Compelling Classic Movie About The Old South
"Gone With The Wind" is a compelling movie about the glory of the South before and after the Civil War. It stars Vivien Leigh and Clark Gable as the iconic characters Scarlett O'Hara and Rhett Butler respectively. It tells the story of how glorious the Confederate states are with the life of the rich aristocrats and the slaves of the plantation living their respective lives with joy and content amidst their difference in social classes. We also get to witness how there was peace and harmony among them as well as the love story thrown in between involving passionate people in Scarlett and Rhett. It has great music and visuals as well with its magnificent production values. It was recently suppressed by people pushing for political correctness particularly in the issue of racism. Too bad that it will never diminish what the movie classic is all about. As with regards to their agenda in trying to degrade the movie for lack of political correctness, let me quote Rhett Butler on my response to these people, "Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn". It remains a great classic no matter what.

Pretty accurate of life in the old south prior to and after the civil war.
Still the best movie (considering when it was made) ever made. It gives a good account of all the ideals and forces at play, when chilvery was not dead and honor was the code of both the north and south.

Gone With the Wind - DVD - Review . . . Immortal Magnificent Achievement in Film History
. Gone With The Wind (GWTW) is about : . • Control. • Selfishness. • Determination. • Manipulation. . . GWTW is Not about the Civil War. Not about a land of Southern Cavaliers. Not about the Myth of the delicate Southern Belle. Not about a Southern Dream. Not about the Southern Cause. . . GWTW is about Scarlett O'Hara. GWTW is about the enthralling Tragedy of Scarlett’s neurotic self–destruction. . . Scarlett O’Hara was Selfish and Determined to get Ashley Wilkes to marry her. At any cost. Scarlett intentionally Controlled and Manipulated anyone who got in her way, especially Ashley Wilkes, Melanie Hamilton, and Rhett Butler. . . Civil War destroyed Tara, Twelve Oaks, the rest of Georgia, and other southern states. Scarlett O’Hara was Determined never to be Hungry again. Scarlett once again Controlled and Manipulated people, including Sueellen's fiance Frank Kennedy, to become the owner of a general store. . . 5 stars for Vivian Leigh portrayal of Scarlett O’Hara. Powerful, passionate, magnificent and beautiful. . . Vivian Leigh is on the Mount Rushmore of on screen Performances in history. Academy Award Winner for Best Supporting Actress. . . 5 stars for Hattie McDaniel portrayal of Mammy. Academy Award Winner for Best Supporting Actress. . . 4 stars for Olivia de Havilland portrayal of Melanie Hamilton. Her character represents Forgiveness, Sympathy, and Humanity. . . 4 stars for Clark Gable portrayal of Rhett Butler, the very wealthy visitor from Charleston. . . 2 stars for Leslie Howard uninspiring and unconvincing portrayal of Ashley Wilkes. Role was terribly Miscast. Leslie Howard was too Old to play the role of Scarlett O’Hara’s love obsession. . . 4 stars overall for Gone With The Wind. Pace of the movie could have been improved. Tragedies should have been spaced out more during filming and editing. . . • Miscarriage that Scarlett suffered after falling down the stairs. • Death of young daughter Bonnie Blue from a pony jumping accident. • Death of Melanie after suffering from pregnancy complications. • Rhett having the courage to finally leave Scarlett, who is now all Alone. . .
