Simple Upgrade, Noticeable Sound Improvement
Iโve tested a handful of turntable mats over time, and the Hudson Hi-Fi 12 Inch Acrylic Turntable Mat stands out as a genuinely worthwhile upgrade. Right out of the box, the build quality is impressive. The acrylic has a clean, polished look that instantly elevates the appearance of the turntable. It feels solid and well-made, not flimsy or cheap, and fits perfectly on a standard 12-inch platter. Performance-wise, I noticed an improvement in overall clarity. Thereโs a bit more definition in the mids and highs, and bass feels tighter and more controlled. It also seems to reduce some of the static issues I experienced with felt mats, which is a big plus for everyday listening. Another thing I appreciate is how stable records feel when placed on it. It provides a firm, flat surface that helps maintain consistent playback. This wonโt transform your entire system overnight, but itโs one of those subtle upgrades that refines the listening experience in a meaningful way. If youโre looking to improve both aesthetics and sound without a complicated setup, this is a solid choice.

Works Great, Looks Cool
Unlike other reviewers have reported, I received the product defect-free, and it does not have any static issues. Sitting on the turntable without a record on it, the Radiant Lime color has an almost neon glow to it, certainly an eye catcher. I will note that when an LP is placed on the mat to play, the glow is not visible, but doesn't affect its sonic benefits during playback. I have purchased several items from Hudson's Hi-Fi and have been totally satisfied with their quality and benefits and this mat is no different. Good price, too!

Can't believe I didn't get it sooner!!!
I recently upgraded my Audio-Technica AT-LP120XUSB with the Hudson Hi-Fi Acrylic Turntable Mat in blue, and the difference is immediately noticeable compared to the stock felt mat. The mat looks fantastic โ it gives the whole setup a clean, high-end audiophile vibe that just feels more premium. The 11.75โ size fits perfectly, and the label recess is a nice touch that keeps records sitting flat and secure. What really surprised me was the sonic improvement. I used the new mat to re-check my anti-skating setting and realized it was slightly off before. After fine-tuning, the difference was huge โ much tighter imaging, better clarity, and especially noticeable with vocals, which now sound smoother and more present. The 1/8โ thick acrylic platter mat feels solid and well-made, and it seems to provide a more stable, neutral surface for the records. I canโt say for sure how effective the anti-static properties are (I havenโt had any major static issues to test it against), but even without that, this mat is absolutely worth it for the visual upgrade and the real sound improvements it helped unlock. Highly recommended if you want to take your turntable up a notch without spending a fortune.

I like it but claims may be overblown
Hmmm. Well, I think it improves the sound. But I acknowledge that I might be fool off myself. I can say for sure that it looks cool. And doesnโt attract as much dust as my felt mat. One more interesting thing is that there is less friction between the disc and the mat as compared to with the felt mat โฆ this is no problem when playing the record, but when I touch the disc with my usual dust cleaner โ the disc stops spinning although the turntable drive spins on. Iโm still experimenting with using a โlight enoughโ touch to get the record clean. As I type this Iโm listening to my 1980โs Masterworks disc of Springsteenโs Born to Run album (I was 18 when I bought it โฆ. But I havenโt played it for the past 30 years or so). Iโve got to say it sounds good, with very deep bass! Due to this mat? IDK.

Improved sound quality!
This is my first time using one of these and I definitely noticed an improvement in the base notes! Overall volume of song is same but the base is noticeably stronger. Definitely recommend! Is this the best? I donโt know but it works! I know there are other ones in different materials which I might try out eventually but I went with this acrylic one based on the reviews. So far so good! And price is good. Especially for vinyl newbies like me! I got the blue one and looks just as pictured

Audible difference, doesnโt add to sound but cleans it up.
Less than an hour after receiving and moments into the first track thereโs an audible difference over the stock rubber mat. To my ears; better. Of course should you by this product your mileage may vary; Iโm pleased to report Iโm not hearing any part of the frequency range have more slam or pop. I prefer a flat response and my ears tell me this product hasnโt changed that. I will say the bass is a little more controlled with less muddying into the mid-bass. The midrange esp vocals are still forward per my preference with a little more resolution as far as the instruments are concerned. A bit more separation. The rubber mat maybe had a little darker/warmer/ perhaps even veiled effect on playback. I had; since my platter is cast aluminum been concerned their might be a little treble sibilant and Iโm not hearing that. As this is essentially just a machined plastic disc it doesnโt add anything. I get the impression all itโs doing is preventing some adverse harmonics from making its way to the stylus while preventing some muffling from the previous much softer mat. The sound is simply โfirmerโ in nature while not being hard or cold. I like it. This mat is flat and smooth; glossy really. The area immediately surrounding the spindle is machine out at least twice as deep as the label is thick. I got the white because, well because. I have a few visually stunning translucent LPโs and thought the white might be more pleasant behind the clear, the blue and the red of those colored records versus the blacks or iridescent mats. Besides, my playback set up is already littered with black and no fan of dayglo anything. I may very well replace the cork on my other turntable with another one of these. ***A thought after submitting review. This mat doesnโt support the entire circumference of a 12 inch vinyl record. Itโs been mentioned in other reviews that the lead in grooves are not supported. I occurred to me while flipping Lilly Hiattโs โLet Downโ this is a calculated design feature and a good one. Iโm ham fisted and really have to exercise caution when handling vinyl. Thereโs no chance of hooking this mat with your finger tips and pull it from the platter. This is actually an issue I have with my cork mat. Having to lower the record back down over the spindle and try and lever the cork mat off of the flip side with your fingertips whole simultaneously holding said record. With smaller, delicate hands this is probably not much of an issue with catchers mitt hands itโs another story entirely. This alone endears this mat to me. So an update; I bought a second for another turntable. The sound of course is the same. I find what this mat does to the sound pleasent. Crisper with out being cold would be an accurate statement.

Value for Money Product
As per the price the product. But only changing the mat will not enhance the sound. Other factors also responsible..

Better than felt
Bought this to replace a felt one that kept sticking to vinyl due to static. This is great.

Ziet er mooi uit en verbeterd geluid
Ziet er super goed uit op de draaitafel, vooral als er licht achterop valt. Geluid is iets voller. Zeer tevreden.
