The thing I love about this book, which I would refer to as a "guide" without hesitation is that it covers ALL aspects of commercial real estate. Office Buildings, Retail Centers, Self-Storage Facilities, Warehouses or Industrial Properties, Hotel and Resorts and (which I was pleasantly surprised to include) Apartment Buildings. There are inspirational stories of how people with little or no money started out in the business, compressive how-to's on what to look for, finding leads, how to get started, analyzing and determining property valuation, property zoning, presentations on obtaining loans, interest rates, mortgages, tax strategies benefits and ramifications, depreciation, negotiating leases with tenants, managing it yourself or putting a team together and protecting your assets. I have read several "Dummies" books over the years and this one is more stuffed with text and information than most others. That's a good thing. There is a lot to learn and understand in a business as complicated as commercial real estate investing. Honestly, this book has everything you need to get started and then some. This book is for those curious about this business, those dipping their toe in and there is even information here for seasoned investors. Not only that, but it's organized in a very easy to navigate way. I without hesitation, highly recommend this guide book for anyone interested in Commercial Real Estate Investing. Commercial Real Estate? - If you are unsure about the basic math or basic parlance of a slightly more advanced level of operations within real estate, then start here. I did. And from it I have taken Peter Harris on board as one of my informal mentors. He has no idea! Peter’s direct and straight-to-the-point discussion, description, and working of a problem really resonate with me. He is also an engineer. His approach is logical and in the format I am used to when seeking solutions to problems. I cannot recommend this book highly enough if you intend on pursuing commercial property ownership of some type.
