Excellent ice melt without the mess of salt
I used Safe Paw throughout the winter on my driveway, sidewalk, and steps, and it gave me very good results. It melts ice quickly, and I was particularly impressed with the traction agent. It made the treated surfaces feel much safer to walk on, especially on steps and other areas where slipping is a concern. Another major advantage is how clean it is. I had no noticeable residue after the ice melted, unlike conventional rock salt, which can leave a mess on concrete. I also had no negative impact on my concrete, grass, or plants. Overall, I prefer Safe Paw over traditional salt because it is fast-acting, provides excellent traction, and doesn't leave the same post-melt residue. I had no problems or disappointments with it. 5/5 stars. I will definitely buy it again.

Peace of Mind for Pet Owners โ Effective and Truly Safe
Living in a cold climate with two dogs, finding an ice melt that actually works without harming their paws has always been a struggleโuntil I tried Safe Paw. This product does exactly what it claims: it melts ice effectively while being 100% safe for pets, concrete, and our yard. The granules are easy to spread, and even in temperatures well below freezing, they continue to provide traction and melt-through. Iโve used it on our concrete sidewalk, wooden deck, and a sloped driveway without any damage or slipping hazards. No white residue, no irritation on paws, and no guilt about chemical runoff. The quality and peace of mind more than make up for that small inconvenience. If your priority is safety for pets and surfaces without compromising performance, Safe Paw is the clear winner. This is our go-to for every winter season now.

Love this stuff for my the safety of my animals.
I've brought this many times. This stuff works amazingly thats probably why its always sold out in pet stores. I got this before our big ice storm. I use it for my handicap dog who has problems getting up and down the stairs when its icy. It has never hurt the dogs and puppy. Best stuff on the market. My 1 complaint is when I ran out, I went to buy it again, 1st wk of December it 80+ dollars for this 38lbs bucket when I ran out after our ice storm, I went to purchase it again and it was 129. Than dropped to 107.. ridiculous if u ask me, thats price gauging I brought the smaller containers that were cheaper. But to increase the price that way was very hurtful to many. Besides that product is fantastic

Works good and safe
Have used this before. Good if you put it down before it snows or ice but not as much after. I like that it's safe for animals and my plants.

Don't Get Caught In An Icestorm without this product! Buy in Summer !!!!
Our second purchase of the Safe Paw Ice Melter. Preface: We live in Tennessee, so snow & ice is few & far between. We have a relatively steep driveway that ices easily. We also have several retail stores that we de-ice the entrances of. Pro's: 1) Affordable when purchased Spring - Summer. If you wait until Fall/Winter, all Ice Melt gets expensive and hard to find. 2) Salt free & doesn't destroy concrete like other de-icing products. 3) Safe for pets! Our Saint Bernard doesn't seem to have any issues with it. 4) Doesn't kill fescue grass! Con's: 1) Expensive compared to rock salt alternatives 2) Can't think of anymore. Although ~ I have no research for sub 0 temps. We use in mainly 20-30 F degree temps when rare ice storms hit Tennessee. We originally got a small pail of this (I believe it was the 8lb tub). We used several during the 2015 Ice Storms of Tennessee. We used it both after Ice had already formed, and prior to ice forming when our driveway was already cleared. Key for when ice is already an inch+ thick. Spread evenly (not too thick) and let it sit. You will hear cracking almost immediately. If you start shoveling now ~ it won't have time to cut in to that ice and get underneathe it. I let sit for ATLEAST 30-45 minutes, then start chipping away. Once under it ~ its a breeze to remove. We'd make two 18" paths for wheels on a good 100+ foot concrete driveway and it did the job well. Adding prior to snow/ice ~ We had no problems at all. Unlike our neighbor who used standard rock salt ~ we had no chips or issues with concrete. Our neighbor who used rock salt now has chips/cracks, wherever the rock salt reached the concrete! We'll be using this product for the forseeable future, and we now have big 35+ lb pails at home and at our retail stores! Don't get caught without it!

I never face winter without this animal-friendly and works-as-promised melter
This does everything it claims -- but you have to use it correctly. (It amuses me when people complain about products they've clearly misused.) Not too much, not too little, and spread evenly. Some trial and error might be needed, depending on the severity of the conditions. For example, I found it won't melt through thick layers of ice, but it will get the process started and begin breaking it up, adding traction. Then I add a little more after that, until the ice is gone. I've found it works best when it's spread before the forecast calls for ice or snow. Rock salt I've used may have clipped right through ice, but at a severe cost that I'm not willing to incur. Safe Paw Ice Melter is non-toxic and, after our dogs sniff a little and try it out, they lose interest. Off we go for a run or walk, and all I have to clean up is wet paws, not bleeding pads. In the DC metro area, ice is a serious issue because we frequently warm up during the day and re-freeze at night. I've owned several rescued dogs who have been through enough, including a border collie mix now with paw fur that catches everything, and I sure don't want them to get sore paws or sick from salt products. Nor do we want our and neighborhood kids crashing to their butts. When you use it judiciously, as it recommends, it lasts quite awhile. Some people note that the pellets seem to "melt" the ice only around each pellet, but that's not the case. It might look that way, a bit pockmarked, but the meltwater appears to spread the components so the whole surface is affected. I'm guessing that's why they suggest you spread it evenly but not too thinly or thickly. I would recommend buying one 8-lb container plus the better-value bucket -- then refilling the container and using that because it has a convenient shaker lid you can turn shut, from which it's easy to broadcast. I keep mine by the door outside and it stays dry. Happy crunching!

I especially appreciate the traction agent
This product works effectively when using it on shallow snowfall or after clearing most of the snow, which is exactly what I want it for. I'm unsure how it would work on deep snow, but I haven't tried it and I feel that expecting any pet-safe product to be effective under excessive conditions is being unrealistic. I especially like the fact that it includes a traction agent, which is a time saver. (And you seemingly can't buy plain kitty litter anymore.) I found the 35 pound pail to be very easy to open, it only took me one or two minutes and was not a strain. I suggest that anyone who had a problem doing so should have read the instructions to break the tab (on the lid) and remove the connecting ring - I'm quite sure that attempting to just yank the lid off would get you nowhere.

MUCH better than salt
I wanted a non-toxic anti-ice product for my driveway as I have dogs and hens. When I first looked at the product I really had my doubts about how effective it might be. Boy, was I wrong. It works like a charm! You can see it start to work within seconds - and it carries on working - re-freeze doesn't happen, walkways are not slippery and the dogs don't have sore paws. Its brilliant. Will definitely make sure I don't run out.
