The Suncast 100' hose reel is inexpensive, works well, and my old one lasted over ten years. The reel finally burst and water was gushing out of it. I thought the old reel was irretrevably broken and I ordered a new one. But when removing the old one I discovered that the short leader hose got brittle and burst. I could have just replaced the leader hose. Everything else looked to be in fairly good condition, even the O-rings. So I installed the new one but kept the old one and will plan on using it at another station. I read other reviews that complained about the leader hose kinking. But my old one never kinked, and the new one did not kink. Perhaps the whoever installed it did not route it carefully. It's a decent hose reel for a decent price. Most other hose reels seem to be enclosed inside a box. That will turn into a spider nest and also you won't be able to carefully wind the hose neatly onto the reel. Enclosures seem like a bad idea to me.

I have three of these in my yard. They do leak, but you can minimize it with waterproofing. They are compact but hold 100 feet of hose easily. It's easy for me to roll the hose up even though I'm old. To me they're a good value because it's good quality for the cost, and mine have lasted 10+ years. You can't beat that!

UPDATE JUNE 4 2020: Have used this reel continuously since purchasing it in May 2017. A few days before the 3-year warrantee expired, the plastic elbow where the garden hose connects developed a pinhole leak. I notified Suncast on their web site, emailed a photo of the problem and purchase documentation they requested, and received a free replacement of the entire assembly yesterday. Replaced the parts in 15 minutes and this reel once again works like new. They even enclosed a silicone lubricant pack to protect the O-rings and help maintain a watertight seal when the reel rotates. Considering the average annual cost of less than $10 for this Suncast product so far, I’ll probably buy another one when this one can no longer be repaired economically. Kudos to Suncast for having Customer Service reps that back up their warranty. ORIGINAL REVIEW 2017: This is an inexpensive hose reel, all made of plastic, so you can try the idea out and see if you like it. You do need to mount it and attach the hose ends with care: if you stress the plastic or cross thread it, it will break. I followed the instructions to a T and have had no problems in the past month. It doesn't leak at all, the reel is easy enough to wind up that the lack of any bearings isn't an issue, and it keeps the hose off the ground and neatly organized. I expect to get a couple of years out of this item and by then I'll know if it's worth it to me to pay 5-10 times as much for a metal version with bearings, hose guide, etc. Like many others, I can only get about 50 feet worth of mid-quality hose on the reel, but that's all I need. The only way I can see to get 100 feet would be to buy the cheapest, smallest diameter hose you can find.

I hate, Hate, HATE this product. I have owned at least six of them, I keep hoping to get ONE that doesn't malfunction in a major way. The design is stupid, every part of the assembly process is more difficult than it needs to be, because of the design of the part that mounts on the wall. I have a full shop, with every tool imaginable, and the only tool I can use to tighten the hose is a slip channel pliers, the size of the part requires large pliers, and the design only allows tightening by 1/8" before you have to reset the pliers and tighten another 1/8". A better design could easily solve this. The second problem is the inner short black hose. It should have a retaining clamp to keep it from kinking immediately after it bends 90 degees to exit the mount. A rigid plastic sleeve would easily solve this, but they cheap out the materials, so the hose crimps right out of the mount, which cuts the water pressure at the hose end by 75%. The worst part is that no matter how you grease the o rings, or tighten the hose ends on the mount or the reel, it leaks terribly. Water sprays out from the hose/mount connection, and this has been a problem with every one of these horribly designed units. I keep replacing with the same one hoping to get a functional non leaking one because I already drilled the masonry to attach the mount to our stucco wall and didn't want to start with a new brand with a different hole pattern. It's my own fault, like Einstein said, "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result." JUNK!!! Don't waste your $$$

I bought this on sale so it was about $30, which I thought was a really great deal since the listing says it includes a 100ft hose. Upon opening and inspecting the packaging, it did not include the hose and with further investigation, the box itself says the hose is not included. Checking other reviews it seems that others did receive a hose since most of them have a similar-looking hose as the pictures. Currently contemplating whether to keep or return it since other reviews say that it's not that good quality anyway. EDIT: It actually works very well! Make sure to tighten the hose very well where it meets with the black L shaped tube as to prevent leaks. As for if it holds 100ft, it probably could hold that much but that depends on how you reel the hose itself and where you installed the reel. I installed it on a brick wall and it it mostly feels sturdy and secure. I don’t think my hose is 100ft but it fits and looks nice.

Every o-ring leaks , you don’t know this until it’s put together, too late ! Leaks ..

This thing is really well constructed and a super cool idea! Perfect for my smaller townhouse garage where my goal has been to get everything off the floor and onto the walls if possible. Installation is straightforward and took all of 15 mins, drilling 2 of the 4 holes into a stud to keep this thing solid. Really cool how the reel can detach from the wall mount if needed. Even though the reel has plastic connectors, it seems to be well built and of high quality, just like the other reviews mentioned. The waterproof grease they include is great for really sealing the connector to the hose connections (especially since I am mounting this on an interior, drywall garage wall so keeping everything leak-free is vital). The reel, even though plastic, seems to hold up well during reeling and is sooo much nicer than manually winding the hose. Even the coloring of the reel is really nice and matches my wall color. Just makes my garage look really clean and high tech and its so nice to just be able to easily reel and unreel the hose. Highly recommend!

Missing parts because it was a Amazon return so I called the CS number and a really nice person answering the phone sent me the parts and was apologizing for something that the company had nothing to do with!!! . The hose real works as described on Amazon and there was no loss of water Presure which was one of my concerns , it’s made of strong plastic so I expect it should last just keep the O rings lubricated with silicone the kind that stays wet and sticky not the sealant from a Tube 😆 . Anyway I love this real and my only regret is that I didn’t get one sooner I’m 68 now and need all the help I can get but even a 28 year old would appreciate this for the time and effort of rolling up the hose neatly and storing it in the garage and not on the ground to trip over, get one today you’ll love it !!!

Works as intended, is straight forward to mount. My only dislike is the included 3-foot leader hose, which is very soft and kinks where it needs to form a 90 degree bend behind the reel mount. I had to cut a length of my quality rubber hose and buy two female hose connectors to improvise my own leader hose and to terminate the end of the cut hose.
