Question 1

What is color 160a in the ingredients? And why does it need coloring, seems unessary.

Accepted Answer

Beta Carotene (E160a) is an organic compound that is a red-orange color obtained from carrot roots, some plants, and fruits, which is then converted into Vitamin A once it enters the body. It is approved as a food additive by the FDA § 73.95 and it can be consumed by all religious groups, vegans, and vegetarians.

Question 2

Is this really $7 for a little container with 12 pieces of gum in it?

Accepted Answer

While it may seem exorbitant to pay $7 for a small container of gum, one must consider the various factors that contribute to the price. The gum itself is made of high-quality ingredients, and the packaging is designed with attention to detail and durability. Additionally, there are costs associated with production, distribution, and marketing that must be accounted for in the final price. While it may not be within everyone's budget to indulge in such luxuries on a regular basis, it is important to appreciate the effort and care that goes into creating a product of this caliber.

Question 3

Acesulfame K is not natural ingredient, correct?

Accepted Answer

Unlike Aspartame, Acesulfame K is a polymerized FDA-approved substitute being a no-calorie sweetener that is used in foods and beverages to provide sweetness without the added calories contained in sugars. It's the healthiest substitute option for sugar for diabetics and people that want to lose weight (Miller & Perez, 2014; Rogers et al., 2016).
