Fujifilm X-T2GS Mirrorless Digital Camera, Graphite Silver (Body Only)

First, let me preface this by saying this is not the camera I wanted. I made the conversion to Fuji when the X-E2 was released in 2013. Prior to that, I had shot most of the crop sensor bodies that Canon had. Like many others, I fell in love with Fuji and the X-E2 in particular. I gained a huge affinity for the smaller body in the rangefinder format. The IQ and colors were wonderful. The Fuji lenses and their commitment to firmware improvements are practically legendary. This last year, I watched as the X-Pro 2 was released. I was excited because I thought surely the X-E3 would be next. Instead, we got the X-T2 and host of other bodies. I tried the X-Pro 2 and liked most of it. My biggest complaint being I didn't need the hybrid OVF (and its expense) and wanted a pure EVF only. After much debate (and a couple of orders I canceled due to unavailability), I pulled the trigger and got the graphite silver edition of the X-T2. By some miracle, I was able to get one in hand a couple of days after I ordered it. At this point, I have only had the camera a couple of days so this is more of an early impressions than a complete review. That said, this camera is a probably the most complete mirrorless camera on the market right now. I was immediately impressed at how fast the auto focus is. Compared to my X-E2, the X-T2 locks on and fires like a machine gun. It still hunts a tad in lower light settings, but that is not something that I personally would complain that much about. If you are a manual shooter, this thing is certainly a dream. The dials are abundant and easily accessible. Some may not like the double stacked design of the ISO and shutter speed dials, but for me it hasn't been a problem. My only complaint is that I would have liked to have a lock on the exposure compensation dial like the aforementioned dials have. Also, the AE lock bottom is a little clumsy if that is something you use regularly. The EVF is enormous, bright, and doesn't suffer much lag. If you use the battery grip and boost mode, there is no lag at all. The rear LCD is likewise big and bright. The multi-articulating screen is nice, but is the only part of the camera that doesn't feel indestructible. I personally would have preferred a non-articulating touch screen, but your personal preference may vary. So, why do I love it? The build quality is top notch. The design and layout are great. It shoots and feels very much like a DSLR in many respects. The IQ and colors are great. I love the flexibility that the higher resolution sensor offers for cropping. I feel like if I was hired to shoot and the shots mattered, this would be a good, reliable camera. Why do I not love it? It feels very much like a mini DSLR. For some that is not an problem and may be seen as a benefit. After shooting the X-E2 for the past 3 years however, I have gotten use to that compact rangefinder body where I could open my left eye to compose a shot without anything in the way. It was also a camera that would easily fit into just about any bag and was a joy to carry. Put the pancake 27mm on it and you could fit it in your coat pocket. The EVF hump on the X-T2 makes it less easy to stash in small places and adding the battery grip means it doesn't fit in any of my bags I bought for my X-E2. Speaking of the battery grip, I like the functionality it adds. However, I don't like feeling that I have to have it. Boost mode is great, particularly the increase to the refresh rate of the EVF. I just know there are times I will want to take it off to streamline and lighten my carry, but will have a hard time giving up of the performance benefits. Maybe I will get over it, time will tell. Either way, the camera just doesn't feel complete without it. So, why 5 stars? It is a great mirrorless camera. If you are a DSLR shooter looking to go slightly smaller and want access to a great line up of lenses on bodies with fabulous color and great IQ, look no further. If you are an existing Fuji shooter looking for the best camera in the X family, then this is it. Most of the hype around this camera is real and well-founded. If however, size and cost truly matters or you are committed to a rangefinder body then I would wait. Yes, you can open your left eye on this camera and still have a relatively unobstructed view and yes the body (without the battery grip) is still smaller and lighter than its DSLR counterparts. For me though, it just slightly misses the mark. If Fuji had released (or even hinted at) an X-E3 with the new sensor I doubt that I would have given the X-T2 a second look. That is just my preference though and shouldn't detract from what a great camera the X-T2 is.

I purchased this camera as a christmas gift for a professional photographer who was looking for a good weatherproof camera for their travels. Unfortunately the thing just refuses to focus. Every photograph is a blur right out of the box. Unfortunately there is no way to contact the seller and because I didn't open it right away there's no way to return it. Huge purchase to be stuck in the lurch with. Definitely unhappy.

First and foremost, I am going to reflect on build quality and overall appearance. For me personally, a camera is a tool and this is somewhat of an expensive investment being just south of $2k for the body only. I was expecting something really good that looked like something that I would be proud to own. Instead, I got something beyond great and absolutely beautiful. A tool to create art that is, in my opinion, a piece of art itself. That said, props to Fuji for building something amazing. I am super happy and glad that I made the decision to switch my kit out for the XT-2. Well worth the extra money for the graphite/silver edition. All the usual stuff was in good order. Very nicely boxed with super duper clear instructions and initial setup was without issue. Initial tests of photos look good but I do need to spend some time learning about all the different features of the camera as there are a lot. The menu system is pretty easy to navigate through and I am pretty excited about mastering all the buttons and experimenting with settings. Also, want to give props to Amazon as I shopped quite a bit but they won my order and delivered as promised. UPS goofed with tracking showing a re-delivery, but brown truck showed up on time on the correct day, (Actually a few hours early). A mention this as I believe the great service adds to the overall experience with the product. On that note, going with all 5 stars as I am absolutely delighted with order.

I didn't pay the full price. Fujifilm in UK is selling the same camera in graphite silver for less than $799. Don't pay the full price. This is my second camera and it is definitely not worth $1599. For $1599, you should be able to buy a Nikon full frame DSLR or Sony full frame mirrorless camera which is totally in a different league.

This takes GREAT photos although I found it really difficult to hold, especially with the power booster attached, in which case it was both difficult to hold and heavy. My Nikon 810, by contrast, has a deep grip that makes it feel very secure in my hand. I really wanted to love X-T2 but the handling issue was a deal breaker for me. I wish I could review it more thoroughly but the fact is I used it for only a day or so until I realized how unnatural and bulky (with the power booster) it feels.

Incredible camera. Period. I am a avid wedding pro shooter. My gear collection list is a mile long. I own cameras such as the Canon 1DX Mark II, Canon 5DSR and Canon's C100 Mark II just to name a few. This camera has a deadly fast auto focus system. Quality of the images is a 10. Quality of the video product is a 10. I have not seen any rolling shutter issues at all. This camera is just an amazing piece of gear. Will I use it professionally? Prolly not. Even though the image results are stellar I am not 100% confident that it would hold up to the abuse that I put my gear under when shooting 18 hour wedding days. Battery life is also not impressive but you can buy a battery grip for those folks who want to use this as a pro piece of gear. Conclusion: incredible camera with super sharp images and video.

I got the camera from other seller. Both the screen and EVF keeps flickering most of the time. I was so excited about this camera...

Bought this graphite silver edition of the X-T2 on amazon.ca while it was on sale. A superb overall camera at a superb price. I was paying 1419 CAD plus taxes (body only). In addition I got 6X Aeroplan miles during that promotional period, which roughly worth $200 for redeeming an air ticket. In fact, upon the purchase of this camera I confirmed a trip to Seattle and San Francisco...from Toronto. The round trip tickets from Toronto to Seattle, Seattle to San Francisco, San Francisco to Toronto required 25000 Aeroplan points, and I got just over 8500 points from my amazon.ca purchase. What a treat!

What can I say, it is Fuji XT2 but with Graphite finish. Buy this if you are a camera enthusiast and you are planning to keep this camera for a long long time, if not, just buy regular model for cheaper. It has beatiful finish and it is a definitely a head turner. So many people asked me what camera I was using.

I switched from Canon full frames to this and haven't looked back. It's a one of a kind camera when it comes to its looks, its functionality, its usability, its quality, and its overall experience. I use the fuji cameras for wedding photography and have started to enjoy photography again. Combo this with the 23 1.4 or the 56 1.2 and you've got an amazing camera that can rival the best full frames out there.

So fun to use. Decided to pack it on a wedding with my mkiv's. It was flawless. Little short on battery life though.
