I was wanting to replace a faulty pickup on my "travel" guitar and found a number of choices available for loaded, pre-wired pickguards. Since it's not one of my high-end instruments, I wasn't too concerned about getting the highest-quality pickups for it. I found that this particular set-up fit my requirements like better quality switch and higher-output, balanced pickups. I received the pickguard within a day of ordering and installed it right away. I had to do a little fitting around the bridge and neck but it was only a very small amount and it's because my Strat isn't a Fender or Squier. When I got everything installed and set up, everything worked as it should and sounds pretty great. This pickup set is a little more powerful than others which helps avoid some of the thin, squanky tone. They're still very Strat-like - not dark in any way with plenty of sparkle and mid-scoop. Because the output is a little hotter, I can lower the pickups to avoid string pull and help warm up the tone. This guitar is a light-bodied hard-tail and my intention was to replace the neck pickup with a Mini Humbucker for a warmer jazz tone but the neck pickup in this set does a pretty good job of pulling that off. It's by no means a fat arch-top sound but with volume and tone dialed back, it's more than acceptable for getting a good tone for comping or soloing jazz standards. I tend to use the middle pickup a lot and this one sounds good - full and chimey. I seldom like the in-between positions but 2 and 4 sound quite fine and are dead quiet. The bridge pickup is plenty clear and cutting but isn't too piercing and it's got a good low-end response - it's hot enough to drive the amp a little and can generate some pretty convincing twangy/clean Tele tones.

quality is ridiculously good for the money. neater wiring than an actual Fender. The pickups sound good but they are a little brighter sounding than I expected. Just be aware if you're buying this, the knobs are really stiff so if you like to do volume swells that you may need to replace the volume pot. Other than that, 0 complaints. 5 stars.

Overall the pickups sound much better than the stock Affinity Squire pickups I had. The only problem I had was that the wires were rather short and made it hard to make modifications such as switching pickup covers but I was able to fix that. Overall very much worth it if you are looking to upgrade your axe while keeping it affordable.
